We have commits coming in the 11th; will Ash be here?

If I'm an ucommitted D1 prospect I don't choose Rutgers just because they have a new coach from OSU. In fact just the opposite. And I'll bet the Jersey HS coaches give him a cool reception. Most feel Flood is a nice guy and Ash is not a NY/NJ guy . It will take time to build relationships-- a few years. In the meantime let the kids just go without endorsements. I'm too old to wait 5 years for another 2006. But I wish Ash good luck.

I highly doubt it considering Michigan Ohio state and Penn state have been cleaning our clock with NJ recruits with coaches with no real connection to NJ. The NJ / NY connection hardly helped flood. It's overrated.

I'm 64 and in your boat...but did you ever think he might have some other B1G targets lined up from Ohio/Ill/Mich that we never even thought of...we gain some we lose some but i'm betting we gain more than we lose.

Pernetti was a football player. Hobbs is a lawyer. I doubt Hobbs had any of the football recruiting skills Pernetti had.
Marco Battaglia would be a great recruiter and I hope he takes on bigger role in the football program

Suppose OSU wins their bowl game in a dominating defensive performance. That doesn't help with recruiting? I mean, we sure as hell ain't playing in any games in the next few weeks...

In the meantime, he'll probably be here a few times in Dec, and also, BTW, Ohio is now connected on the US telephone lines....

The guy just went 0-1 in my book. I can't believe this is even an issue. His ass, the minute he signs the contract, should have a legal and moral obligation to his new employer. I want his ass like right now in NJ interviewing assistants, familiarizing with current players, reassuring committed recruits, formulating his vision, meeting local HS coaches, looking for a house to live, trying local pizzas or bagels, etc, etc. One more minute staying in OSU is at the expense of RU as far as I'm concerned. Coaching the bowl game because of loyalty to his players, not burning bridges blah blah blah, GTFO!, literally.

Yea, he signed a contract that starts the day after his 2 year contract ends at OSU.....after their last game.

Biggest concern with this decision is that it leaves much doubt that Ash truly understands what he is up against recruiting in this state. He cannot afford to waste a second getting players here and screwing up the first year or two will seal his fate - If I were him I would be spending every second in the living room of every possible big time recruit in NJ - wearing a RU hat at the Rose Bowl - while nice - won't get it done here.

That could be a possibility. Signing a contract that binds effective after the bowl game therefore appeasing and honoring both contracts. Which then will lead me to question his judgement.

You know what? Whatever. I'd just say, if I was in his position, I'd be at RU from day 1 for reasons stated on God knows how many threads about this.
