If we don't want to continue being embarrassed on national primetime TV, maybe we can get some coaches that "get it." We have maybe 3 or 4 players that would even be on OSU 2 deep. Our guys are smaller and slower and have no instinct. We need at least a few top tier recruits and the coaches to develop them. Until then, we're an embarrassment in the NY market and a nobody on the national scene. Those fans supporting the current regime either don't care about our program or are just utterly clueless about how to build a real contender.

I guess there's no middle ground between $750m per year and $5 million per year.

Can you guarantee that middle ground will do better than what Flood has done so far? You can't. That's the issue.

If Herman or whoever can come in for $1.5 or $2M and bring in crazy good recruiting classes, then I'm all for it.

None of them are coming in here and competing with tOSU anytime soon.

Nice. You basically have given up. For $2million, we can get a program changing coach here with some vision and recruiting prowess.

Every tackle seemed like our guys would then give or get dragged for 2 to 3 more yards. Our OLINE looked like they were wearing cement shoes. The crew even noted how slow Roth is to getting the punt off... I though our linebackers played tough tonight...don't have the guys they need backing them up down field. The team reflects the personality of the coach..pretty dull and lacking of any energy.

Where have I given up? I said that if we can get a top head coach in here, I'd be all for it. I'm just not sure that guy is someone like Rhule.

Correct, I don't believe this school is willing to spend top dollar on a coach until the money starts flowing in from the conference. That doesn't mean I don't think a new coach can't help out situation. Until we are willing to commit the money, I will support our current coach.

Urban Meyer is one of the BEST EVER college coaches at a school with limitless athletic resources. We have neither of these things right now and may never so difficult to compare. I fully expected to get blown out because Flood sucks against good teams with clearly superior talent. He is just not a good enough coach to overcome that. He is ok when the talent is even but we still never win big - it's always a close game (win or lose). Has he blown anyone out that isn't traditionally terrible? I can't remember. Schiano also had his share of horrid losses but still had plenty of wins by multiple TDs against "good" teams at our level.

I'd be happy to go 8-4; 9-3 every year with the occasional flyer of a close to undefeated season (and occasional clunker). I think that is an attainable nearer term goal for Rutgers. I do not think Flood is the coach to get us to that attainable goal but I also don't think we have to pay somebody $5M to get it either. Not sure who that is but it's not our current coach (or GS).

Well if every Rutgers fans keeps on supporting Flood, then the powers that be would have no reason to make a change. They can just leave things status quo because our fans blindly support losing teams, year after year.

Only at Rutgers.
