We're No. 1! - RU at the top of the polls in lacrosse

Great news! Aside from men's soccer as noted above, the women's basketball rose to #2 in the late 80s, taking a 22-0 record into an A-10 game in central PA. That one didn't go well.

The guys have a classic trap game coming up at Delaware (with JHU to follow) so I hope the coach can keep them focused on the task at hand. So far, they've taken care of business at each stop along the way. Keep it going, guys!

we are #1 in Maverick , Massey, Kratch & the NCAA polls

the coaches poll comes out this afternoon...

I think our entrance into the B1G is starting to show some positive rumblings. Lacrosse, wrestling, women's soccer are doing great. Football should be improved this fall, particularly due to the addition of Jerry Kill as OC. Men's basketball returns almost everyone and adds a great shooter to the mix so they should be better next year. Women's basketball will definitely be much improved next year with all of those players who had to sit out this year. The sleeping giant is starting to waken.

Shocker, right? Yet there are morons around here who expected it to happen 3 years ago lol!

Delaware's staff includes Long Valley, NJ's Byron Collins, ex-Rutgers assistant (and highly successful coach at Div-III Stevens Tech). Delaware will be well-prepared.

Disagree. First, we would never take UD lightly. Second, we just got our "WTF" game - hopefully - out of our system (and still won...).

Nobody cares. SMH

I'm sure in your 87k posts you've posted a thing or two that people didn't care about. I thought it was worth pointing out. Not hating (I go to every home game), but Maverik media is not the primary lacrosse poll. Glad to see we have added Massey, and hopefully will get to #1 in the coaches when it comes out this afternoon. I think our team deserves it.

Awesome news!

Separately, can someone get Inside Lacrosse our correct logos!

If you have Twitter, you should tweet that to the official account.

UD will have the team's full focus. Rest easy on that. They won't be a pushover though. They have some talent and are at home. And they are playing the number 1 team for added motivation.

Plus they are playing home. We are obviously the favorite going in but we will have to perform to win it.

I would say 12 wins get us in.

I'd say 11. The B1G is just that deep this year. Your wtf loss in the conference can be the current number 20. The whole league is ranked with 4 teams in the top 10.

You can't have a bad loss right now in conference. There is no such thing. There is going to be a damn good team left out of the conference tournament. Actually two.

I'm pretty sure B1G is sending 4 to NCAAs this year. Make the B1G Tourney and we should be in.

Depending on these last OOC games, could be 5. Lots would have to break right but it is possible.

You could not make the B1G tourney but could potentially make the NCAA tourney.

All of a sudden there are a lot of news articles about RU lax.

I wonder what media outlet gave Syracuse their first place vote. With the resumes of the other teams was thinking it was a Syracuse media outlet.

One thing I'll say, I work on Wall Street and a LOT of front office folks (traders & sales in particular) are former LAX players - I work with former players from Duke, Syracuse, UNC, Hopkins and Maryland. Playing for a big-time LAX program which RUTGERS now is, not only makes for instant respect in terms of resume, but also creates that commonality with a lot of top people in industry.

It does. It also reflects well on the system Coach Brecht has implemented, as well as the additional support from the administration paying off.

Lots to play for. All happening at a great time, too.

Think about what this team has overcome to get to this point in the season. Remarkable. And bodes incredibly well for the future.

This is true. Some very big ballers on Wall Street are former laxers. A number of our guys are there now with sure more to follow.

excellent..with Big 10 schedule looming...do we play at PSU this year?
also, did Pernetti hire Brecht from Albany?

All B1G teams play all other B1G teams every year. We play PSU towards the latter part of April.

Pernetti hired Brian from Siena where he built that program.

Great Job!!! MLAX leading the way. Wrestling becoming a regular power, MBB starting to show some life. Football next???

Weather forecast for UDel on Saturday...65 and sunny. Anyone who wants to watch a #1 Ranked RU team should make the easy road trip.

Well I sure as sh*t hope they donate back. Especially with this new Lax and Soccer complex we're trying to build. Maybe this opens some eyes and they want to become a part of it.

RU alums? About 7 years ago Friends of Dartmouth Lacrosse got a group in that was serious and the results were impressive. At this point over 35% of the annual team expenses are covered by "Friends" donations and several hundred individuals contribute annually. Now, if they only could impact the Admissions Office.....

I don't know where most of RU alums donations come from in terms of industry, I was just talking in general. I know Hopkins and ND in particular each have a guy that has crazy money that helps the program out.

We need to worry about ourselves and continue the build.

Good segue and time to say....DONATE! This program puts it to real use providing tangible results.

Oh absolutely BUT I don't understand, why in this particular thread, you choose to make that comment and don't even bother saying something positive about the team. That's the problem.
