Among last year's performances, or two years ago in the case of Jacob Young, media reports, open practices et al, we all had expectations of how each player might perform. After 12 games, how have your expectations matched up with what has happened on the court. For instance, in the case of Jacob Young, we can all agree he has underperformed.

Mulcahy had a great high school career, but the consensus was that it would take him time to translate that into the college game. That being said, I believe that he has over performed and is ahead of where many of us projected him to be.

What about the rest of the team?

I
Over performed based on expectations: Mulcahy and Johnson
On par: Baker, Mathis, McConnell
Underperformed Category 1 (doing okay just not as good as expected): Harper, Carter
Underperformed category 2:(based on sky high expectations): Young
Not rated: Douc and Kiss

how is Douc not a big underperform. Guy was a 4 star and can’t see the floor in 3 years. He has made no progress. What has happened with him?

He hasn’t underperformed per expectations this year - no one thought he’d be a contributor. Also no sample size on which to judge.

Myles Johnson humongous outperform expectations.

Everyone else is incomplete. Need to see more games against P5 teams, especially on the road.

Too many fans form opinions based on the last game.

Why didn’t people think he would contribute this year. No one thought he would improve? He redshirted much of last year. Why was it wrong to think he would be more of a contributor then this.

Didn’t hear anything positive out of practice and coming off surgery. He hasn’t figured it out. Unless he makes dramatic improvement I see he (and Kiss) transferring to a low major by the end of the year.

9-3/1-1 and ranked #39 in the only poll that really matters. Yes, all expectations met thus far.

The real question for right now is about the team itself.
They have had one bad game, IMO, with St. Bonnies. They should have won it and they didn't. Also, the question is still up in the air about playing on the road where all 0 wins have come. So, great home team and hope that continues.
Up to Pike to set the starting lineup and who and when the bench jumps in.

In addition to the Bonnies game, the Pitt game was also a huge disappointment. But we got one of those back in beating the pulp out of SHU. I expected to beat Wisky, so we need to upset somebody else in order to get the other one back.

Cannot be an incomplete except for kiss...the marking period is over, all tests have been handed in, attendance has been recorded. Limited playing time is another criterion as it represents the coach's grade. Think of this as the midterm mark.

Hard to believe some of us were hoping for Young to establish himself as the starting point guard. He's like a walking turnover waiting to happen.

All have met expectations except for Young. I thought he might lead the team in turnovers but didn't expect him to have the lowest shooting percentage.

More like a running turnover. He is always out of control. Souf Mensah comes to mind....we were all scratching our heads wondering what Pikiell saw in him.

I told my son that Jacob reminds me a bit of Souf. I’m thinking they fit a certain profile of what Pike wants in his PG. Unfortunately in this one area Pike appears to have a blind spot. He only sees the quickness and in your face D, and not the liabilities on the offensive end.

To Pike’s credit he adjusted his thinking on the use and PT of Souf, and I suspect if Jacob can’t or won’t reign in his offensive sloppiness then Pike will make big adjustments with him too.

I do not have expectations of Rutgers basketball, but do have standards for how the game should be played.

The young players on this team have me as excited about the program and so far is on target for a bubble season, which is cool.

I’m not worried about individual player contributions, they will all have ups and downs.
