What happen to RHULE?

A friend of mine got married and left NJ and now works for a high level law firm in St Louis that's loaded with Missou and Illiinois alumni and Rhule had a so-so to not so good (terrible) interview. The culture in the Midwest is significantly different than the Northeast and Rhule did not impress. My contact is at a ground level as an employee at this firm and works for all the big-wigs at this firm, arranging travel, offsite meetings and other sensitive items....she understands the basics of sports and she is not a sports guru, but she overhears tons of specific information that has no value for legal fans but does for college sports fans like myself.

They are all huge St. Louis Cardinals fans like myself, so I asked about Missou after the players almost striking a couple of weeks ago, the retirement of Pinkel and then Rhule interview. He flat out didn't impress, but Missouri is looking for Gary Pinkel 2.0, someone that is very polished, smooth, someone that can kiss babies and take photo opps with alumni throughout the region. Rhule is definitely not that type of coach or fit for what they want, but some of their alumni wanted to interview him anyway. They then agreed he wasn't the right fit for what they wanted as the face of their program, along with the challenges of what the SEC offers.

I view Rhule as a grinder that fits the NFL mode that is 1000% all about football, when you can get away with being gruff, unshaven at times, not as polished or refined, when the NFL franchise stands on it's own. I don't see Rhule fitting in at a lot of schools and RU would be crazy to not interview Rhule, but his stock has dropped significantly around the country, after his Missou interview.....which is good for Temple and their program.
A friend of mine said your friend is a liar and a fool... and by "your friend", of course, I mean you.

Ruhle also has a championship game to prepare for this Saturday, IF he has any interest at all, I'm sure his agent is telling RU they have to wait until after. IF there is any mutual interest.

Temple had a ton of seniors this season. Let's see what next year looks like.

Once again:

QB Walker
RB Jahad
WR Bryant
WR Jennings
TE Thompson/Patton
LT Dawkins
RG Carter

LB Marshall
LB Alwan
DE Martin-Oguike
DE Reddick
NT Robinson
CB Chandler

All returning.

McGowan @ C for Friend
Nate L Smith @ S for Hayes
Sharif Finch @ DE for Ioannidis

All started multiple games.

Khiry Lucas and Anthony Davis, 2 potential starters in the secondary redshirting with injuries. Anthony Davis or Kareem Ali starts at CB, taking over for Tavon Young. Khiry Lucas, Jyquis Thomas, or Delvon Randall starts at S, taking over for Alex Wells.

discuss all you want, I am just pointing out that whatever will happen will happen and nothing said here will have any relevancy in the process of selecting a coach, write letters send emails knock yourself.

LOL

Nobody's stock drops "significantly around the country" after a single, private interview. Get over yourself and your weak ass souces.

Said in an interview today I heard that he told team he's not leaving unless a pro team makes an offer, then he will listen.

He said if the Raiders or Cowboys wanted to talk to him, he'd listen because they're the Raiders and the Cowboys. He said he'd listen to what Missouri had to say if they came to Philly to meet with him. He wasn't actively seeking out the job at Missouri. He didn't even want it.

Why does everyone think the rutgers job is more coveted than the job someone may already have at an AAC school? How much did you pay Flood? You guys lowballed your last coach. What was he, 1.5 million? Rhule is making close to that now and will likely be renegotiated to a larger than that deal after the season.

So he makes more than he would at Rutgers, his path to winning is way easier than at Rutgers, and he doesn't deal with some of the ridiculous expectations that people on this board has for their programs. So there is less stress for him.

Gee, more money, less stress, more likely to win, major media market, sounds like a no brainer to me. Now if someone were to offer him bags of money, well that is a separate story. But really, Herman stayed at Houston and is getting 3 million. Do you think your job is more appealing than that job is?

The bushels of temple fans are testy today because their coach didn't leave their school like all the other ones did in the past......>>>???

I just passed along the news that actually helps them and they think it's bad for them that someone didn't think he walked on water or didn't leave immediately on the first chance out of town..... Missouri interviewed him and they weren't impressed....not saying it's an indictment on his coaching ability, just not the right fit for what they were looking for.

He has plenty of chances to really prove himself and it would be a little scary for him to leave at the first sign of upside. He will have plenty of chances to get interviews down the road if he stays hot and on the top of lists around the country. At the same time, Temple keeps their coach and helps build their program. It's a win win for Temple because there is no downside for him staying. If he's legit, he'll continue to win and Temple benefits....they'll have a chance to sell tickets and actually get the fan base up and running where wins can be expected at home games. If Rhule cools off and fans don't support the program just because they aren't red-hot, would be the bad sign for the program. Time will tell, but in my opinion, he's really suited for the next level in the NFL vs college or big-time Power 5 programs.

Flood made less than Rhule makes currently, and that's before we tear up his current contract.

What you said never actually happened though. If you want the real story, Rhule humored them and said if you want to fly to Philly, I'll listen to you. He wasn't interested in the job, which is probably what you mean by 'wasn't impressive'.

For your sake, I hope you're better at pushing home mortgages than you are at being a message board fraud.

Pathetic!

Nice post. As a Rutgers fan it's a bit tough to stomach but we need to come to terms with our situation. We're in the B10'and Houston and Temple are out spending us for a HC. They're also outperforming us on the field. What I find disturbing is that some here are thumbing their noses up at Al Golden.

Kyle Flood was a last minute hire who had questionable qualifications at best to be a FBS head coach. He was paid the salary that he deserved. You can't use his salary as the barometer of what RU will offer to a qualified candidate.

As for Herman, he is staying at Houston because he is waiting for the UT job. Houston is not his destination job. There is a lot of heat on Charlie Strong, and UT's lack of offense. Their passing game is one of the worst in the FBS.

Wasn't Schiano already coaching at Miami when the PSU gig opened? I have to think PSU contacted him but the most smoke was definitely around Golden and Richt...not that either of them even interviewed. I have no idea.
Not sure when Obrien was hired, but Schiano was announced as Tampa's coach on the day of Paterno's funeral

I never minded Temple fans and the program before but if they don't believe their coach can be hired away this or next year they are definitely delusional. Playing in the Peach or non champ new years bowl game will be the best your school will ever accomplish.

GO RU

That's more than you can say about RU in the B1G.

Yup. Everyone here KNEW that the day JoePa retired that Penn State was going to steal Schiano away from RU.
Only the Nitters and Fransesca were saying that. After he turned the corner in 2005, he would not have jumped to PSU. If he was, he would have gone to Michigan. As it was, he only told Michigan yes because Corzine renegged on his support for the stadium expansion and recruiting lounge. Corzine did some quick damage control and groveling, and GS opted to stay.

Coaches are by nature "competitive", yes? Competitive people want to compete against the very best. Yearly games against Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, etc is one very very good reason why any coach would want to come to Rutgers.

Oh, and by the way, look at this year. Second place B1G team will be going to the Rose Bowl. Third place still goes to a New Year day bowl. Think about that for a minute.

Where would I rather be, AAC or the B1G. ........ hmmmm .... tough choice.
