What if we had made a bowl?

Personally, I'd much rather have Ash starting out with a clean slate than starting with a losing record in a bowl game..

Decision appeared to be made prior to Army game so winning last two games and going to bowl game wouldn't have mattered. Decision to fire wasn't solely based on wins and losses, but the entire culture that was becoming RU football, ie lack of discipline, off the field issues, questionable academic doings, etc.

Norries Wilson would have coached his first and last bowl game then!

He would also be trending on twitter after saying some weird stuff in the post game interview.

I wonder if we would've accepted an invite. I doubt it, as we would've been in the midst of a new AD & HC search. Sure, Hobbs was decided on quickly, but I'd think the priority would've been the HC search instead of dealing with the logistics of bowl prep.

I'd think one of the side benefits if it did happen would be that Ash would probably spend more time here, instead of Columbus. He probably wouldn't have done much in terms of bowl prep, but it would've given him a chance to evaluate the current players in person & give him a better idea of what he needs this recruiting class.

Flood was a goner for a while - no impact. My guess is we would have turned it down.

Ash would've handled it on his coffee and cupcake break from the binder in his Honda Accord.

3 things (Rutgers Football related) I'm happy about this Christmas:

- we DIDN'T make a bowl game at 5-7
- we DIDN'T lose a bowl game to finish 5-8
- Flood was long-gone before the Maryland game
