Which team is more frustrating to root for - The Mets - The Jets or Rutgers?

The Mets went for it last year, after catching the luckiest situation you can ever dream of with the young stud pitching. Then, after needing a 12 home run second baseman to go all babe ruth in order to make it to the world series, ultimately getting outclassed by a better all around KC lineup, the Mets throw in the towel, letting go all of the everyday talent that got them there.

Always the frugal losers. They'll be competitive until each of their pitchers is able to get paid, then they'll fold what could become the greatest rotation ever assembled. Because they are cheap bastards.
Lucky my ass. They drafted all of those pitchers during the Minaya regime other than Syndegaard, and they made a shrewd trade to get him as well as a starting catcher.

Set Rutgers to the side - it is college - when it come to pure frustration it is monumental with the pro teams where the players are getting paid to focus on this full time & do it well - that is entirely what their professional existence is about - play your sport well. ... and of the teams mentioned - the Jets produce far more agony and -zero- trips to the top since 1969

- there is always a tempering of frustration with college - you are watching people growing up - yes, the players must be dedicated - but also they are young, growing, learning - and the vast majority are doing this while they are making their way to what they will be doing with the rest of their lives - in college, these players pass through in 3-4-5 years & during that time, on occasion they have things that are legitimately on a priority level that momentarily exceeds their sport - like a kid who has to say "coach I have to miss afternoon practice next Tuesday - I have an interview of Med School / Law School / Rhodes Scholarship .... or simply - I have a mandatory final Bio Lab presentation" - other than certain personal/family matters, a pro player has none of these potential alternate priorities.

It's not far fetched for the Jets to make the Super Bowl or the Mets the World Series in the next five years. The chances that Rutgers football makes the College Football Playoffs or MBB makes the Final Four in the next five years are (fill in the blanks). $$$$

NY Rangers are most pathetic. Just 1 cup in the last 76 years

And for some of those years there were only a few teams in the league and no salary cap up until recently.

Well,at least your not Cub fans. Easily the worst major sports franchise

Don't get me wrong, these were good moves by the mets. But for 5 out of 5 of them to work out so brilliantly, is lucky. Generation K taught us all about counting on pitching prospects. In terms of assembling an every day lineup, the Mets have among the most impotent lineups in baseball.

Jets haven't been that awful since Parcells turned them around. Like a lot of teams they haven't had that franchise QB or coach. They may have dodged a bullet with Fitzpatrick yesterday. I recall when Pennigton came in for relief of an injured QB and then had a great season. Jets thought they found gold and locked him up for millions. Then he was exposed for having limited arm - not to mention being oft injured. Jets nation was falling for Fitz the same way this year imo. Now that Ryan has shown how to play the Jets I don't see Fitz being more than just above average. Jets need the killer QB.

I am a Jets fan, but a RU first fan. I hate baseball. I was pissed about yesterday but I felt my eye want to push a tear out after WVU 06, Ville 12, TTFP 14...the Jets give you more of a taste to coming close but at least they did make the playoffs recently and 10 wins is respectable.

I also think rooting for teams that are less successful, if and when, and I know it will with RU and the Jets, it will be extra special.
