People are questioning how the position coaches are being hired without a coordinator in place . I am sure Ash has his sights on candidates and may have a handshake deal in place . But if he doesn't get his guy I think ash will be the DC . Either way the defense will surely have his fingerprints all over it.

I'm sure he will run the defense. That being said, he has so many responsibilities that he does need someone to manage the unit. Ash may call the plays, or the DC may. That'll be Ash's call. But, Ash will need somebody to be the supervisor of the unit.

Ash has already made it clear that he will be hiring a DC, he said clearly that he wants to hire a DC that he trusts so he can focus on building the program and ensuring that all aspects of the team and program are moving forward.

Just wait till the bowl games are over, I'm quite certain he's got what he
needs in place.

last minute candidate for funniest post of the year

have to agree, pretty damn funny...

back to point...here is where I think Ash goes killer recruiter..since he will be the brains of the D he
can bring in a guy to execute his plan...so can live with a Vrabel or Johnson if he thinks they
kill on recruiting even if not deemed DC ready...this is the hire I am most anxious to see...I think it will make recruitniks happy....

No way he becomes the DC. As HC he has duties off the field as well that he has to handle. If a coach could do both, they'd already be doing it.
