My latest for Forbes. Got the chance to sit down with Gene Smith and get some great insights into how Ohio State has built such a successful athletics program.

Also shed some new light into how the Urban Meyer decision came about.

Based on that comment, Scarlet Rugby, can we assume that you are the author of the article?

That article was very interesting, quite insightful, and most of all analytical in ways I'd never seen applied to management of a college sports program before. It struck me that some of the issues Smith had to deal with after arriving at OSU were/are being faced by Julie at RU.

Even more interesting than that article was the one to which there is a link further down on the left side of the page, beneath the photo of Delany speaking at Rutgers. The title is What the Big Ten Conference Has to Teach Us About Critical Decision Making (I think I have that title right!). Has that ever been posted here? It's also an excellent read about many of the major decisions that Delany and the B1G have made since he took over as conference commissioner. And there was no mention of ND in the entire article.

Thanks.

Yes, I'm the author of both articles. I've done many college athletics case studies for Forbes over the last few years. Hope to do one on Rutgers in the near future, if they would be so kind as to cooperate with me. :)
