I'm not sure if she used the last of her nine lives, but a mediocre 7-10 season and being average to below average in her career to me means she should be history. Anyone here know what her contract looks like? If it's a contract year I bet she's toast.

Hard to argue at this point. The program WAS on an upward trajectory until this season but went from 8-8(2-5) to 7-10(1-3). I’m all for letting her go if contract is up.

Ive said this before. The X factor is the support the team gets. If it’s not at the level peer schools are at, brining in a great coach might not get it done. The Brecht’s of the world are few and far between.

She has to be let go there was no upward trajectory at all. She has had only 1 winning season in conference in 15 years she should have been gone years ago just another terrible hire from the previous athletic regimes. You get a good coach in here and this program can be top ten with in 3 years

As usual, you’re wrong, as there most definitely WAS an “upward trajectory” in recent seasons:

2015: 2-16(1-4)
2016: 6-12(2-3)
2017: 8-8(2-4)

...you’ve gotta be dyslexic to think that’s NOT an “upward trajectory.” Now...THAT BEING SAID...This past season was a major setback, no question, and IMHO if her contract is up she should be let go at this point.

You are nuts how can you say upward trajectory their out of conference wins were against crappy teams. Even this year look at the teams they beat all very low rated D1 programs. How can you even come close to backing a coach who has had 1 winning season in conference in 15 years. This program and coach have been a joke for years and it is time to move on. Like I said with the right coach this program can be top ten in 3 years.

It WAS an "upward trajectory" over those 3 years, period, regardless of how you attempt to spin it. This year, HOWEVER, was a major step back. Again...I AM NOT SUPPORTING HER ....READ my entire posts. I have flat-out said, for the 3rd time now, "if her contract is up cut ties."

Sorry for the hitting post reply way early on my first post.

I think she, Knobloch, would be a great option.

I knew we had an alum coaching at Monmouth but she left the world. Any other alumni at programs that would be in the mix?

Absolutely not we need a top assistant from a Maryland or a head coach from a program that is on the rise. As well as she has done she has not proven anything and she has always had the top lacrosse girls both in Moorestown and on her South Jersey Select teams.
And PS Silas-Brand has to be let go whether or not her contract is up. Most of the games we won this year my daughters D2 team would have beaten those teams!!!

A top assistant like Ash that cant recruit NJ?

There are so many top assistants at different programs from New Jersey and even ones that arent from New Jersey at top programs that also recruit New Jersey so that would not be an issue like in football. You just need a good coach who makes the players better and Brand does not do that!!!

All depends on support levels. A proven good coach won’t touch a job where you are fighting with one hand behind your back the whole time.

So you have to get lucky. Like Men’s lax did.

It’s not really a great strategy.

Is this really true in women's lax? Of course its true to some degree in every sport, but I think support for women's lax is pretty terrible everywhere. Seems to me this is one of the sports where you can make very large strides just by getting a good coach.

You are right there is no reason they cannot come up with the money to hire the right coach for women’s lacrosse compared to everything else in the entire sports budget

I know when Brecht was hired, he was only given in-state tuition for scholarships. However, at this time aren’t men’s and women’s lacrosse fully funded in all aspects??? Is there a tentative completion date for the Rodkin Center? I would think any incoming recruits/players would be in there before they graduate??

What is missing?

A good coach for the women!!

I haven’t heard that about women’s scholarships, hence my question. If I’m leading the charge, I’m making sure we are on par with funding before I do anything. Do we have all coaching positions available and staffed at peer level funding, scholarships and travel budgets, etc.

Then I go get the best coach I can when those things are in place. I don’t know about much but I know of at least one of those areas we are behind. That’s all assuming the facility gets built in a short time. I encourage everyone to donate to the build.

Relatedly, our men’s staff is the lowest paid in the B1G. And they are doing it without facilities. Unicorns.

The Brecht’s of the world are far and few between. It is why we have lost so much. A good coach isn’t enough. You need more. Everyone has good coaches.

Again the silence is deafening ala our men's soccer coach. Hobbs has to act now we just can't keep up with this charade of a coach

"deafening"??? The season ended 10 days ago AND we have no idea how long is left on her contract. Why don't you write another letter to NJ.com ya' and complain like you did a few years back.

I'm guessing her contract if it expires this year wouldn't expire until May 31st or June 30th. If she is here on July 1st, you'll know the answer.

Never wrote any letter to N.J.com!!!

Looks like they are going to keep her around. Next year will be a big year with Michigan improving and the usual suspects staying strong. Anyone know anything about the recruits coming in?

Given we are located in the center of the Lacrosse Universe, there is no excuse to not have recruited and had a top notch program developed at RU. So much talent in this area and she should have made recruitment inroads by this time with travel programs and HS coaches. Alum or not, let her go.

I guess i don't get the "now" element. I understand it as it relates to the big revenue generators that command major media attention. But for non-revenue generators...I don't get the urgency.

But...how about this for funzies: who - richthedentist - would you bring in as a solution? Not what kind of coach, or some abstract. Name some names. And no copping out by saying it's not your job. You're the primary one here making such a fuss about making a change. Who is your solution? Why do they come here? What would make them come here? Again: for funzies.

You're right. Women's lacrosse has stunk for sooo long, whats another couple of years of poor results.

Not for nothing, but on the website, the 1st assistant from this year, Katie Hersch, is no longer listed. Maybe that’s the extent of the changes for this year.

We go through assistants like water just another sign that we need a new coach because the assistants know what is up and this program is going nowhere and there are some good assistant coaches out there at some of the top programs that could elevate this program in no time

Eh - Ass't turn-over might be rooted in that, but it also has something to do with salary/ cost of living. I have no clue why Katie Hersch left, myself, but I'd factor in other reasons, is all.
