Will Flood be back next year?

Flood will be back under most any realistic scenario.

Enough with the disciplinarian stuff. Coaches often win big with thugs on a team. While I don't condone it, it's the pool we swim in. Now if you want to talk about on the field, well that is a different discussion.

Anything short of gross insubordination he will be back next year. In two years everyone from the President to the coach will need to start worrying.

Unless someone donates the money to hire a better coach Flood is here to stay until we are receiving full B1G shares - unless he totally gets overrun by more embarrassing player problems. Then all bets are off.

So no private money,
4-7? Flood stays
No Bowl? Flood stays.

More arrests or off field problems, Flood goes. And be careful for what you wish for because we're bargain basement shopping until B1G money is in the bank. And maybe more than one year of B1G money until we get spendy on a football coach.

JMHO.

I really dont know where people are coming from when they say Flood NEEDS to get to 6 wins and a bowl. The powers that be realize this is a rebuilding year with a new QB and revamped O Line & loss of an NFL caliber fullback. Dont you think the AD and powers that be were expecting a drop off this year? Just because you and many fans think the team should perform better every year does not mean the people who analyze the situation and make the decisions based on factors much more wide reaching than wins and losses, will feel the same way you do. Last year we could have easily wound up with 5 wins and no bowl... if the close Michigan and WSU wins were reversed.... so a season of 4 or 5 wins this year....during a rebuilding year would not have been unexpected by the decision makers. I really believe people are way off base by thinking a 6 win bowl season is mandatory.
First time I am hearing rebuilding year. Rebuilding from what exactly?

Man, Kansas got absolutely mudholed by Memphis. I mean, Memphis was good last year and all but if we lose that game Flood should go.

I think he is growing into a better, although admittedly still average, game coach.

I thought he was getting better, but the WSU game was a horribly coached game imo. Maybe the off the field stuff affected him and the coaches, but let's face it if it wasn't for two great plays by Grant, Rutgers loses that game in a big way.

The jury is still out imo on whether or not he chose the right QB. Laviano made some bad mistakes. I realize it was his first start, but he showed little arm strength in throwing down field or throwing it away. Most people here think Flood gave Nova way too much leeway. Let's see if he plays favorites with Laviano as well. Choosing the right QB is part of the game day coaching.

I agree that its somthing of a rebuilding year - lots of turnover from last season.

If this were a normal year, with no offfield issue - yes., there is a chance he could stay with 5 wins (I think 4 or less hes out even if we are #1 in APR unless he had a top 25 recruiting class). But I think at the end of the day missing a bowl, plus the likely recruiting fall out (I doubt this class sticks if we go 5 wins or worse), plus the email stuff, plus the arrests, plus the cheap buyout, and the slowly but surely increasing revenue, plus Flood not even being Hermann's hire will lead her to ultimately make the decision to can the guy.

Make a bowl and its hard to fire him, because tis is still RU, and it wasnt that long ago that we werent going to bowls at all.

If a CEO of a company had 7 employees arrested in a 2 week span for violent crimes and was under investigation for improprieties and had bad results due to problems existing for 4 years what happens?

The ultimate credo of the Floodies/blue sky whatever is that that Flood has no responsibility for anything. No defense, blame Rossi, who he hired and retained even though we had the worst pass defense in America before Rossi was DC. Players out of control, who he recruited, well, boys will be boys who rob at gunpoint and slam women into concrete, and other schools are bad so we can be bad. 4 years of penalties, good teams have penalties. Lose three times to teams who lost to AAs, well we match up badly, just like, get this, we match up badly with everyone from Kent State to Houston to Nebraska to whoever, ironically aside from 4 teams, has a winning record. Bad QB play except when Fridge is here, just credit Flood for the good times and forget the rest.

It is just totally absurd and senseless.

Barring a miracle by the FB team, Flood is a goner at seasons' end..........
