There is a good chance we go 0-2 on those wishes but I am getting tired of seeing "fans" wish for the team to lose so that they can get their way.

If you find me a single player on the team that agrees and hopes for a loss, then I will join you but I would bet every penny I have that the entire team wants to win next week.

Coach Flood should be judged by everything that has happened on and off the field this year. His entire body of work, not just the Maryland game. If it is determined that he would be fired if he loses to Maryland, then he should also be fired if he loses. If our administration keeps him because of a single win, then they should be out the door with him. If they decide to keep him because they feel his body of work warrants it, then they should stand at his side and put themselves on the line as well.

Just don't ever wish a loss on this team of young men.

...it's just not in my DNA to want us to lose. I'm also not a fan of wishing anyone ill will in terms of employment but this staff and our HC have left A LOT to be desired for the majority of their tenure.

I'll be wishing the seniors go out with a win and the underclassmen come away with a coach that can lead them in the future...

If RU decides beating 3 teams that have 2 wins each and Indiana is enough to keep the job, they don't deserve fans imo. The team could basically run on auto pilot and beat those teams.

The best we've looked all year was against Michigan State and Flood wasn't even on the sidelines... just sayin'.

I don't know maybe someone like rettig wants us to lose so he can get another chance with another coach . Same for some other backups . So there I gave you an example of how a player might want this team to lose .
So it's ok to root against flood the dudd and hope for change .

We ALL want an RU win every time the kids strap it on.For RU to beat Md. we would have to play at a very high level that day.Their record doesn't show it but they are a good team. We will probably be dogs at home and rightly so.Watching and Waiting.

Hey , it's your right to disagree . It's also my right to hope for the best outcome for the future of this program
Sorry-that is not in your DNA. You are just one of the pathetic malcontents on this board riding the negativity mojo that a losing record allows.

Unlike you, I doubt even Rettig would ever hope for a loss. But if by any chance he had the same mind as you, then he wouldn't be a player I would want on the team.
Again, Ian not saying this kid would ever have that thought, just responding to PS

One of the all-time stupidest posts I've read. Our team wants to lose? I guess you've never played football if you think some guys on our team want to lose. Unreal.

I was responding to the OP, who wanted someone to find players on the team that may want Rutgers lose . I just gave some hypotheticals

Some so-called Rutgers fans have been fast and loose throwing around words like "disgraceful" and "pathetic" to describe our team potentially playing in a bowl game at 5-7 while those same people actively root for Rutgers to lose games. Talk about disgraceful and pathetic...

You know what's disgraceful and pathetic ?Kyle flood coaching our football team and representing this great school . That is what's been disgraceful and pathetic for 4 years .

I get what u did. Nothing personal against u. Just ridiculously stupid hypotheticals. No one on the team would ever want to lose, so just stupid to post hypotheticals in my opinion. No offense.

5-7 would mark 2 losing seasons in 3 years including multiple blowout losses in both the AAC and big ten. Not to mention half a dozen arrests and a 3 game suspension for knowingly breaking school policy after being told not too.

Flood's been a great representative of this school. The knock on him is a terrible football coach.

Best case- we win, team goes to a bowl, Flood is relieved, Norries takes the interim tab again, new coach is named before the bowl game.

I wouldn't consider Floods actions with respect to Nadir Barnwells academic ineligibility, as well as the arrest/suspension/dismissal of more than a handful of team players under his watch, to be "great representation" of Rutgers University in any way.

I said when it happened..the arrests aren't Flood's fault. Impossible to control 100+ kids 24 hours a day.

I can see the Barnwell thing being an issue, but he did it for the good of the kid. Didn't break any NCAA rules, broke a minor RU policy and got punished.

Unless there's more coming out, Flood's been a great overall rwpresantive to RU. I don't agree that should save his job, however.

I disagree; he did it for the good of his depleted secondary after poor recruiting and ongoing investigation of his players. Doing it "for the good of the kid" would have been asking for extra credit before the class grade was finalized, and not blowing off an academic advisor who told him to stop inappropriately contacting faculty because academic ineligibility would not have been lifted by that point. And at some point someone has to be responsible for so many players (including Barnwell) making bad decisions and spending time around questionable characters.

Until the results of the second investigation are revealed, nobody can say for certain whether there have been no NCAA violations, and the Barnwells scandal/arrests were just an aberration for Flood (which I am skeptical of).

Fair enough, but so small in the grand scheme of things and such a minor\dumb violation.

He's done so much more good things in his 4 years here that yes, he's a great representative of RU, in my opinion.

Any justification for keeping Flood, whether it be by a poster or by RU administration, needs to address each point in the quoted post and explain what mitigates each one.

If you took an anonymous poll of the players right now, I would guarantee that the good majority of them want Flood gone.

Because I know people.
Just wait until Flood is fired. You're going to hear some really good stories.
Good? So you are going to take joy in making him look bad after he is fired? Not really interested in tarring and feathering the guy after he is gone.
We have a rule in our office when someone leaves or is let go--don't throw them under the bus. Just move forward.
You said somewhere that you have some personal issue with Flood. That's your business. But if you want to make it public, it's a free forum.

The only foul is not winning enough. All the rest is manageable.

Yes, and there are some clowns on this Board that still don't understand this.

The reality of it, every coach has some players that won't shed tears for them but 100% of them want to win next week and all will be excited for a bowl even with only 5 wins. And all of them wished they won more this year and they all did as well as they could and yet none will be happy with their own performance. You may even hear stories about Flood but none of them will be by players.

Do you think I missed anything or do any of you want to make more crap up and act like you are all inside the locker room.

I would be very surprised if any member of the team wanted to lose any game, regardless of how they feel about Flood.

I have no idea if any of the supposed stories (repeatedly suggested by RU5781) are true, if they even exist...guess we'll find out soon enough. But it wouldn't surprise me if there are some or even many players who would like a new coach. That doesn't mean they want to lose to make that happen.

Now, as for fans...I have no problem if any fan states that he/she would like to see the team lose, if they believe it would be good for the program overall. Who cares? The fans don't play the game and "rooting" for a loss has no impact on the outcome.

Totally in agreement with the OP. Flood's status should not be affected by whether or not he can lead us over a 2-9 Maryland this Saturday. Total body of work: recruiting, record vs good teams, record vs teams we think we should beat, off the field control of the team, academic performance, etc. If it takes beating a weak Terp team to convince the administration that he is worth keeping, then he isn't worth keeping.

Beat Maryland.

Allowing the ring leader of both episode's, Tejay Johnson remain around the team as student coach certainly falls on him. He allowed him to remain around these guy's at practice where most of these friendship's are formed. He basically said it's OK to hang out with this guy and it clearly wasn't. People like to point out that you can't control kids 24 hours a day but he allowed a known bad apple and ring leader of both crimes to hang around these kids. So yea the blame falls on him. sorry you couldn't be more wrong.

He knew Tejay committed the crimes, yet the cops didnt?

You can make the argument that the admin should provide justifications for their actions, perhaps. That's not unreasonable.

But forum members are under no obligation to justify or explain their opinions. That's just silly.

What are you talking about? Tejay Johnson was in trouble before these episodes several times. He was in trouble with the law in high school then again with the assault charge which was dropped. I guess you already forgot about his suspension. I'm sorry if you want to stick your head in the sand but he was a known bad egg which Flood gave one too many chances to. Apparently your under the assumption that these are the first times Johnson has ever been in trouble. Again you couldn't be more wrong.
