Tourney will be played at The Golf Club at Briars Creek on John's Island, SC, a 6132yd, Par 72, Reese Jones design.

This is a return trip for the Knights. Last year the team went into the final round in 3rd place before a +9 team score dropped them to 8th in the 17 team field. The 2nd and 3rd Place finishers also return in NC State, and Purdue.

This year's field is lead by #6 Florida State. Other Top 50 teams are #37 Purdue, #38 SMU, #39 NC State, #44 Charleston and #49 Campbell. Among others in the 17 team field are the B1G'a Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, and PSU. Rutgers comes in #114 and 16th ranked in the field, ahead of only #122 Iowa. Other teams entered include Miami (FL), Kent St, ODU, and Furman.

Top 50 players expected but not confirmed

#3 Mirabel Ting (FSU) 3 Wins in only 4 events
#6 Lottie Foad (FSU) has 2 Wins, 2 2nds, and 2 3rds in only 6 events
#43 Natasha Kiel (Pur) was ranked as high as 18th but struggled last few events
#48 Isabella McCauley (Minn) 2024 B1G Championship Individual Co-Champ

As of this moment RU has not announced their lineup. I'd expect Lucrezia and Lorena Rossettin who finished 34th and 53rd last year. Joining them should be RsSo Grace Lu and RU's highest ranked player at #415, Frosh Joline Truong. Lu has a 2nd Place finish while Truong has finished in the Top 6 twice. All 3 were in the Fall half. No indication yet whether RU will bring someone to play as an individual so up to 2 spots are likely open

Appears there is a weather issue with the tourney. Originally set for Mon-Tue those in charge have changed the schedule'.

Per the NC St site............

"The Pack will play at the Briars Creek Invitational at the Golf Cub at Briars Creek in John's Island, South Carolina. Due to weather, the Pack will begin play on Sunday, March 9 and resume for the final round on Tuesday, March 11.

This tournament will now feature two rounds for 36 holes on Sunday and the final round on Tuesday."

Forecast is for light rain today with heavy rain tomorrow.

The day before is usually reserved for teams to get a practice round so I guess they eliminated that and will start the competition a day early.

Whenever it's played, Rutgers will go with the 4 mentioned above along with Frosh Judy Amato. Soph Krystal Li will compete as an individual. Rutgers will go off on the Back 9 in today's shotgun start.

What happens when 3 of your players fail to break 80? Answer: Nothing good and that describes RU's Round 1.

With Joline Truong (75) and Lorena Rossettin (79) the only players under 80, Rutgers shot a +27, 315. They stand 17th and last after Round 1. Lucrezia Rossettin shot 80. Grace Lu and Judy Amano shot 81. Playing as an individual, Krystal Li shot 85. At T38, Truong is the only Knight in the top half of the field.

As expected #6 FSU, the only team under Par (-8), jumped out to a 9 storke lead over #64 Kent State (+1). Rounding out the top 5 are #37 Prudue and #39 NC St at +3 with #61 Maryland +5. Kent State's Isabella Goyette leads at -6. FSU's 2 Top 10 ranked golfers, Lottie Woad and Mirabel Ting, are 1 stroke back at -5.

There was supposed to be a 2nd Round today but other than it was scheduled to start 3.5 hours ago there is no update available at the moment.

According to FSU Golf, yesterday's 2nd Round was cancelled due to weather issues which are expected to continue today.

The tournament will be cut to 36 holes and resume Tuesday with an 18 hole final.

Just like the previous tourney at UCLA, this week won't be one for the time capsule. Rutgers finished 17th (+50) and last after shooting a team 311 (+23) . Rutgers +23 was 16th out of 17. The best score was RsSo Grace Lu's 76 followed by Fr Joline Truong and Fr Judy Amano 78s. Lucrezia Rossettin shot 79, and Lorena Rossettin 81. Playing as an individua, Krystal Li shot 82. In all the team shot 50% of the 2 rounds 80 or higher. Truong was RU's best finisher at T54 which means no team member finished in the top half of the 100 player field. The averge finish for the 6 was 80th.

#6 Florida State (-9) won by 14 strokes over Purdue and SMU (+5). They were followed by Campbell (+9), and ECU (+10). Iowa finished T8, Maryland T11, with Minnesota and PSU tying for 14th.

Florida State's Mirabel Ting (-11) continued her run toward All America, if not a #1 ranking, with her 4th win in 5 events. Purdue's Jasming Kehler finished 5 strokes back at -6. Florida State's other Top 10 golfer, Lottie Woad, continued her 7 tourney run of not finishing worse than 3rd by tying SMU's Mackenzie Lee at 5 Under. 2024 B1G Championship Co-Champ, Minnesota's Isabella McCauley, finished 1 stroke back to T5.

What started with a very positive first Spring tourney has been followed by consecutive last place finishes. Hopefully they can reverse the trend at the City of Oaks Collegiate hosted by NC State the 21st-22nd.
