Women's Soccer Illinois 2 RU 1

Tough loss. Didn't think we looked sharp for much of the 1st half. Kept going for the long ball. Maybe Illinois's defense dictated it, but we had more success when we began to dribble & play to the feet. Didn't think Casey Murphy looked particularly strong or sharp. First time this year that she has really been tested. Going to need her to be solid or better from here on out. Northwestern there Sunday 1pm. Go RU.

Agree the use of the long ball rather than keeping on the ground was not effective frequently. I think Reed has one long kick to Ciarroca that resulted in an opportunity but most times we did not retain possession. I thought we responded well to the first Illini goal and did not see them getting a second. Agree about the goalie as well and wondered if this was a bad game or her first real test. Hopefully we rebound Sunday in Evanston.

Agree, also thought we responded well to the first IIlini goal & didn't see them getting a second. Been following them closely & really believe this was Murphy's first real test, although didn't see the Maryland game. May have been a bad game as well.
