Really tough loss. Thought we dominated 70% of the game. Swaby cleared one into no-mans land & onto the foot of a Michigander & into the net from there. She is very good for a frosh in that difficult & critical position, but will do this on occasion. Needs to clean it up. Tiernan rifles one in to tie going into halftime. 2nd half Visco scores an excellent goal on pretty assists from Hendley & Ciarrocca. Michigan ties it in the 79th min. when Visco slips on the wet turf while attempting to intercept a ball headed to the box. Very tough break. Huge fan of Madison Tiernan's &, while we clearly need her great ability to create & score & her overall great play, she can't force it too much. We dominated in shots, but didn't get the same clear looks that Michigan did on their goals. All that being said, we really got homered by the Ref. Called ticky tack fouls on RU down the stretch giving Mich. set pieces in our end. Hurt us, especially in the 2nd OT. Still if we had had this effort against Illinois we would have won easily. That tie hurt. However, sometimes even though a player & a team know that they can't let down, it can be very difficult to shift it into high gear in a short time after a big win. Be that as it may, on to Mich State on Sun at 1. Go RU.

It seemed like they were constantly getting set piece opportunities at the edge of the final third, and we were not getting any. They also executed them very well. I think their coach is doing a good job. They do not have the talent we do,but the coach is concentrating on executing precisely the things they do well.

I have watched two games, and we lost both in overtime. Maybe I should just read the summaries and not watch the games. My wife was watching her TV show in the other room, but she knew the score from my reactions.

Agree with your observations re: comparative talent as well as their doing things precisely. My wife was in the other room reading, but quite sure she heard my reactions as well.

This will probably sound weird after a loss, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching the game last night. I only caught the second half, and didn't realize there would be an overtime, so my observation are somewhat limited, but it was one of the best displays of passing I ever recall seeing from an RU soccer team, men's or women's. College matches are painful for me to watch sometimes, but our ladies did a wonderful job maintaining possession and moving the ball forward into the attacking third. It was a joy to watch. The second Michigan goal, which was the only one I saw them score, was directly the result of the girl who scored RU's second goal slipping on the wet turf as she went for the clearance, with the ball sliding directly into the path of the Michigan player. Still, there didn't seem to be another RU player in the same zip code so we may have some things to sort out when it comes to marking in the back. I'm looking forward to catching a game in person.

Caught most of the game. Announcers kept mentioning the youth of Rutgers. 12 freshmen. Add to that the fact that we get back Casey Murphy (B1G Goalie of the year) in 2015 and next year looks bright.

Actually we have 13 & 8 of them played last night.

just a note i think there are 2 home games left

Reading this for the first time. Tiernan has great technical ability on the ball however does she seem to shoot a little too much. There were times where I though she could have looked for a through ball or an extra pass to keep the play going instead of constantly shooting from distance. She clearly has the best skills but I think she could engage her teammates more. Thoughts?
