As most know, i am a BIG Flood supporter and although he did cross the line, I do believe at many other big schools, this could have been quietly swept away. With that said, here is a worst case and very realistic scenario
a) the timing of the suspension is horrific and sets Coach Flood up to fail on a # of levels. Unless the team can rally to epic proportions, the season is done, not only because of Floods suspensions, but the loss of Hamilton, Carroo and our secondary. Given what has happened, 5 wins would be considered a good season
b) the timing and bad luck of this all conceivably costs us 3-4 years - follow along.
If there was ever a year to beat Pedo St, it was last year and this year. With no distractions, we easily beat WSU, Carroo likely doesnt get into the fight and we take care of business at Happy Valley. Franklin is either sent packing and/or loses his recruiting class, and future recruiting battles go at least 50/50, as Flood begins to build upon his high integrity reputation
c) IMHO it looks like Rutgers is just trying to find a way to get out of a full buyout of Kyle's contract and having a lame duck coach who loses his recruiting class and doesnt have the support of the donors or fan base makes termination a much more popular option in December...BUT....
d) Having Julie as an AD automatically limits the selection pool of coaches. Many people see her as a lame duck AD and others just dont want to work for a woman who has such little integrity - based on her well publicized lies to the media and her past. Combine that with lack of money issues (unless we get big donors to step up) and we are back to hiring a good MAAC/AAC type of Coach as our best case scenario. Of course, this means building all new relationships with Jersey coaches (Kyle had over 10 years of relationships), burnt bridges - for those who are pissed off how Rutgers handled the Flood situation. so we are recruiting from square 1
This is just my opinion and represents a worst case scenario - but one that I see as realistic, given how our administration has acted over the past 3 years. it sickens me as a fan that this has a reality of playing out, in any part
