Not because we haven't had much worse losses/blowouts, but because it's against a team with 6 scholarship players who we had no excuse losing to and it just kills the positive momentum from this season. Kills it. And it's also how we lost, by completely yakking this game by giving up down the stretch of a winnable game, going from up 51-46 with 7 minutes to play to down 61-51 on a 15-0 run in crunch time. 20 friggin' turnovers and we don't pound the ball inside against an undermanned team that couldn't afford to get in foul trouble - that poor strategy is on Coach. Doesn't mean it wasn't a successful season with 7 B1G wins and it doesn't mean the future isn't bright, but man, it's a horrible way to go out. Just horrible.

Stink fest ! This is a team that’s goinf to get us to the tournament ? God help us

agree...its the way it happened and against who. To me it wiped out alot of good vibes because it is a reality check of how far we have to go. Nebby as bad as they are has players that can shoot. We do not. Players were bad and coach was bad. No excuses

Take the season as a whole. It was an improvement end of story.

Improving is relative. We went from really really stinking To really stinking, and that’s debatable. We are the first team out of the BIG Tournament. Bad right ?

Think Pikiell rode some players out for way too long in the 2nd half. He didn’t plug Doorson and Carter in until right around the 4 minute mark for 1 possession before the timeout but Johnson and Eugene we’re getting gassed. That was the start of their 11-0 run but it seemed like odd timing to be taking key players out.

Very hard to win with the amount of turnonvers. Geo with another big stinker, no idea what’s been up with him, but I think teams did some scouting to figure out his tendencies because he was getting D’ed very well up and picket pocketed a lot the past 4 games.

And last year we weren't and we had a worse team what's your point? FR hit the wall and the Thiam arrest killed us.

Stop with the freshman crap. These kids play in multi game tournaments all their lives . Freshman lead teams to the national championship in this sport . So please stop.
The Thiam arrest ? That’s why they stunk first half against penn state ?

Team ran out of steam. Add in the Issa situation and it was a bad end. Sucked to watch, but I'm still encouraged. The 4 freshman hit the wall. Shouldn't happen next season, and we have exciting pieces joining the team in Young and Mulcahy.

The game they lost by a point you're using? You're lost goodbye.

So much to hate tonight and a lot of it from Pike.

Turnovers

Strategy that didn't take advantage of their lack of depth and inability to foul.

Not focusing on getting a 4th foul on Watson early in 2nd half.

Letting Palmer go off.

Doorson and Carter in at inopportune moments when we needed Myles and Gene getting the ball.

Geo, wtf Geo?

Most of the game we were shooting over 50% from the field and Nebraska was low 30s. Only TOs were letting them hang around. Fact is, game never should have been within 10 points but we let them hang around, and when it mattered, we folded like a cheap suit.

Thiam gets arrested and you give the team a pass for stinking and embarasin the school?
And what about freshman winning ?

We don't have top 50 All American FR. They didn't embarrass the school you are right now if you're a grad.

Now this numbers I agree with. I'm glad in this post at least you didn't use the lame excuse that somehow Thiam is to blame for the 20 TO's and the brain dead BB IQ.

But I still think the Thiam mess is part of why we just played our 2 worst games of the year - or else it's a really big coincidence. First time all year we simply didn't "bring it" in 2 straight games that I recall and there should never be a reason for not bringing it in elimination situations. I have no inside info, but you have to at least concede it's possible, especially since, to quote Yogi, "90% of the game is half mental."

Sorry numbers but I will not concede that. That's a poor excuse. This team from the coaches to the players $hit the bed. I can understand the bad first half, but there was no excuse for the way they couldn't hit a shot at the end and Nebraska went on that 15-2 run. No excuse.

This is stating the obvious

Numbers you’re a good poster and usually back up your facts . But not in this case. We didn’t bring it because of Thiam? And the first time we didn’t “bring it” for 2 straight games this season? Look back at the results .
The Minnesota- Purdue - northwestern stretch we didn’t “bring it”. And that wasn’t one game in a row as you mention , it was 3!!

Wow. I hope we get a participation trophy for the Big ten Tournament. Maybe even hang a banner in the rac .

Numbers is dead wrong. He just didn’t do his homework before posting that nonsense . He will go back and retract the “bringing it for 2 straight games” bs that he tried to sell us.

Those 3 games were after Eugene went down, so I was factoring that in. I'm also not saying anything was because of the Thiam situation - I'm purely speculating based on the observation that we had 2 clunkers where we didn't look ready to play and those clunkers, at the end of the year, happened to coincide with the Thiam incident. Could be zero factor, but maybe not. Wish I knew.

Well a reporter will ask pike or someone needs to ask him at the court club meeting. You don’t get paid to know, but he does .

You realize there’s a big difference between saying the Thiam incident impacted the players and the Thiam incident was the reason we lost...right?

It’s not an excuse but if you don’t think that incident impacted the psyche of this team you’re out of touch with how 18-20 year olds operate.

Again , I am sure pike will be asked this tonight or soon and we will know the answer

Okay. Are you a trained psychologist? Yes, I agree the Thiam loss may have impacted the team before they played tonight. But not the game. I played the game. Did you? When I played I shut down anything but the game in front of me.
