Lots of venom directed at ole miss , but let's say one of our really big -time players needed some help . Say he's looking for some cash to get the heat turned on back home or maybe he wants to buy his little sister a prom dress , wouldn't fellow ru fans help the kid out ?(obviously you would be doing it discreetly as a friend of the program ) I sure as hell would help and I think any decent Rutgers fan would.
And let's be honest some of us might think it's cool 'helping ' a player , especially if he gets the winning touchdown to beat penn state !

Neither . Valid question . Some people want to be holier than thou . I don't

No ... the only people for whom this is in any way a 'valid' question are those who are ignorant of the fact that this would be an explicit NCAA violation..... and clearly you, by crafting this hypothetical, obviously know better.
What you described is a violation - there is no - zero - exemption for 'compassionate gifts' - -
as much basic common / moral sense as it might make for various fans to perform certain simple, nominal and expeditious 'monetary acts of kindness' - in the current NCAA regulated environment, it is totally against the rules.

No crap it's against the rules . So is going 1 mph over the speed limit .
It's easy for everyone to get up on a soap box and say 'oh I would never break the rules and my school Rutgers would never , ever cheat '

for the sake of the program overall.....no

so which one of these do you see as a "just going 1 mph over the speed limit?" ...

1. - providing the use of three loaner vehicles over a six-month period without payment
2. - providing a four-month, interest-free promissory note on a $3,000 down payment for buying a used vehicle
3. - providing two nights at a local home
4. - providing an airline ticket purchased
5. - providing one-day use of a rental car.
or
6. - opening the wallet to hand over "money to pay rent and also for his mother's $305 electric and water bill.

It would seem that #3 could be argued to be a reasonable matter of ignorance & if it was the only issue, could ultimately be little more than a wrist slap .... and depending upon the circumstances, just maybe #5 could be debated -
but for most of the rest of this stuff nobody with a brain could plead "ignorance" the participants had to have had a pretty clear understanding that what they were doing was a violation - and they went ahead and did it - counting on it never coming to light .... which was risky - and in retrospect - stupid.

- here's a real good rule of thumb - if you are about to give something to an athlete .. and you feel strongly compelled to say "what ever you do - don't tell anybody about this" because you are pretty sure that it would be considered against the rules.... then don't do it ... even if you think that the rules are stupid and that your motives are morally righteous.

Pretty much all of it . Did someone get hurt here ?
It's against the rules , I get it . The question was would you help an ru player out ? You said no . Some loyal fans we have

Darn right.
Hope Ash contacts every Professor at Rutgers and tells them to give his players good grades.
Also there should be a tip jar when you enter High Point for a game to be distributed to the players if they win. If they lose money can be used to bribe HS talent to commit.
Also a collection can be taken up while game is in progress and those that don't cough up the bucks are ejected.
An extra incentive or two ( legal or illegal doesn't matter) sometimes do a better job than just playing by the rules in an effort to win games .

Remember the honor system works best when no one is looking [roll]

Ha love the tip jar idea . I can hold the money .

Plum street is not the sharpest tool in the shed.

He coined the phrase Ash will get us trashed the day we hired him.

The guy should change his handle to butter knife.

Whatever . The great plum street coined the term 'flood the dud ' before he even coached a game . l

It probably already happens here, just like it probably happens at every single power 5 school

Wow , nice words and resulting to name calling.
I didn't say it justified .

Please... You very specifically said that anyone who wouldn't commit an NCAA violation isn't a "loyal fan". Need a reminder:

Pretty much all of it . Did someone get hurt here ?

There are many things to dislike about that post. But the one that sticks out at me is how you seem to believe that it's somehow less ethically corrupt to help the player out if he's "one of our really big-time players" than if he's, say, a third string player.

So if it's a third-stringer, it's bad to help him out. But if he's a star, it's good.

I hope you don't have children.

You're an idiot, go back and read what I posted 'some loyal fans we have here ' is what i wrote . What's wrong with saying that ? Like every fan base ,we have some loyal fans and some not so loyal .

Keep digging.

Listen there are things I would do if a kid was in trouble, or was about to have his power turned off, I'm sure - a lot of us would - but there's also a line I would never, ever cross (see: giving a RECRUIT money, etc...). That being said, saying that fans are not "loyal," if they wouldn't, is asinine Plum. Com'on man.

Heres the thing and I really don't know why I'm taking the troll seriously. Do you think it was a one time ask? Do you really think she couldn't come up with the 300$. After the coach said yes, would he be more or less likely to ask again? You think it's just him? The fact that he would casually text a coach and ask for money illustrates the culture at Ole Miss and it's a culture of corruption. Trust me, I've seen it first hand.
