A good dude, avid sports fan and dope mc. RIP Phife... May you eternally "kick it"... yes you can.
I never really thought I would get into hip hop other than the Beastie Boys until I heard A Tribe Called Quest on Pandora. I feel like they don't get the recognition they deserve, or maybe I just don't hang out with the right people.
Tribe was always my favorite. I'm glad I got to see them in concert finally about 8 years ago. RIP.
Saw them live at the Barn back in '91 or '92 with De La Soul. Still one of the best shows I've ever been to.
Tribe was huge in the early 90's. Their longevity was cut short by the "gangsta rap" movement. That wasn't who Tribe was. They always had a positive message and had no interest in the more aggressive style of rap. Low End Theory was the first CD I ever purchased. Still holds up as one of the best rap albums of all time. I'd put it up there with Dr. Dre's The Chronic and Eric B. & Rakim's Paid in Full.

I would have killed to go to that concert. De La Soul is Dead is one my favorite rap albums of all time. Same for Low End Theory by Tribe.
Died of complications to diabetes. Don't F with your blood sugar. What great group. Awesome flow.
