Wow

Despite you telling who what? No one is shocked by this. Maybe a handful people who dont really follow recruiting, thats basically it

Does Flood follow recruiting? Was he shocked, when his staff just started looking at other QB's throwing the ball a day or so ago? We were entertaining Haskins just a couple of weeks ago and he had been recruiting for UMD since January? How can BigTerp possibly know more than Kyle Flood and his entire recruiting staff?

So that makes him not such a great kid after all. His "interest" in Rutgers was disingenuous and he visited all those times just to get in the ear of other players we were recruiting. Flood and staff got played big time. How could they not know better?

Honestly can't remember any kid visiting a school as many times as Haskins visited Rutgers without committing. At some point earlier Flood should have pressed the kid for a commitment. If he didn't commit, Flood should have moved on to the next QB.

They had an offer to Russo for a few months. Players need to be at their school spring practices for coaches to watch them at this time.

Well for starters, we didnt "just start looking at other QB's a day or so ago". Duncan, Russo, Smith, and others were on our radar for quite some time and were our respective plan B's.

Second, a decision isnt made until a decision is made. "The Movement" or whatever Haskins and his boys were calling it was an ongoing thing, but what kind of self respecting head coach is going to let that stop him from from recruiting a kid he needs? Was our staff just supposed to give up after hearing whispers of rumors?

He had made it very clear for months that he was assembling an army of potential recruits to follow him wherever he goes. Whether or not Flood knew where is completely irrelevant. We would recruit the kid till the end regardless as long as there is a chance; as we should

Flood no matter what still has to recruit kids that act interested in the hopes of convincing them to become interested.
Also needs to maintain a positive relationship with the recruit's HS coach , so what done now doesn't bite him in butt in future
because of the way he acted.
As for not knowing, don't think any HC isn't kept up on what the recruits their after are doing, just expect the HCs not to make it public.

Personally I only follow recruiting casually through RU sites and articles about the recruits RU is going after.
But won't get in a panic mode because of alleged recruiting for Terps when still considered a RU possibility.
That would have been pointed out far before his committing by someone in the know and not just Round Table info.
To many follow recruits tweets to miss that, in my opinion.

how does haskins commit affect m. jabbie; will he stick w/Ru?

I try to not be doom and gloom, but this isn't looking good. Haskins is a big blow in perception for the school. He could have drawn in some big time WR and other highly rated kids. we sit now with options B, which look like they have skill may lack hype to draw others in.

at some point recruiting needs to improve. Rutgers could end up losing on all the top nj talent again....its going to catch up in a negative way. And facing the top talent yearly will just be a reminder of recruiting woes.

Jabbie has no other offers.

I always hear about how much recruits love Flood, maybe it's because he gives them such a great place to meet up, hang out, and talk about what other school they're going to commit to.

So how long before all the other recruits following him commit to MD? Who are they. Give a list and when they commit to MD.

I cant imagine spending much time debating recruiting. Dont you guys have lives? family? Kids?,,a job?

In the end, despite all the permutations of analysis, a kid picks a school..the one he WANTS to attend. What more do you need to know?

If this is true, why was Flood allowing this kid on campus all this time. We don't need to disadvantage ourselves anymore during recruiting. I can't believe how Flood is being played by all these 17 year olds. Flood is a clown and a joke. He just does not know what he is doing with recruiting. If someone visits that many times and does not commit, something is wrong. Don't be an idiot and allow these kids to come here and recruit players for other schools on Rutgers money.

As much as recruits say they love Flood, there is not only a disconnect but a huge lack of respect. Can you imagine a recruit doing that to any other big time coach.

They probably say they love him so that they can come back and recruit players to other schools. This nonsense would never happen with any other coach let alone a big time coach,

"Dwayne, I heard a rumor that you were considering going to UMD. You are hereby banished from RU for the rest of your days, even though I offered and am actively recruiting you along with 10+ other powerhouse programs, and even though you grew up a mile from Rutgers stadium, and even though your best friend has committed to RU, and even though your mentor is a Rutgers legend, and even though you just told me to my face that I was one of your favorites."

Wow... you'd make the most brilliant recruiting coordinator wouldnt you?

He had his own thoughts on where he would go to school. Flood tried to change the guy's mind while recruiting 4+ other QB's. Thats literally what recruiting is in a nutshell. If you are actually shocked that he hasn't chosen RU that's your own fault for not paying attention, not Flood's. Everyone and their brother knew he was a heavy UMD lean. But if youre a recruiter you can't just give up like that especially if you might still have a shot. Don't be naive

I am not shocked that he did not come here. Very few if any of the top recruits are coming here. I don't have any faith in Flood's ability to recruit. The issues is that if the guy is actively recruiting for UMD then why let him on campus and talk to other recruits about UMD while visiting Rutgers. Don't be naive in thinking that recruits are not playing Flood for a fool.

First of all, was he recruiting kids to UMD WHILE at RU? I doubt that very much. He was probably enjoying his time with friends and the coaches. I believe he has much too much respect for RU to ACTIVELY recruit while at RU. I actually think he really liked RU, but the pull of the "home state" school was too much to overcome.

NOW, was he actively recruiting players while IN Maryland...BEHIND THE SCENES...with other MD players? Looks like a def. yes.

I don't think the U coaches got played or were suckers. As stated, you keep recruiting with the hopes of changing DH's mind. And I think they came close to it, from what I've read.
