Yeboah > Eugene

A 4 that can shoot the 3. To me, that was a requirement to make the NCAA tourney. He's got the low post moves and hits his foul shots. The ball doesn't get stuck with him.

I wanted him to pull the trigger a few more times from 3 today.

Same. Thought he pump faked a few too many times trying to drive baseline passing up open looks from 3. May have been able to put up 30 the way he was shooting tonight

It was a fair exchange. But, it would have been nice to have both. Eugene is a hard noice player that could help this year. He was the heart of the team last year. I guess he didn't want to come off the bench.

Underestimating how good he was. He was a good finisher around the basket, set good picks, good passer, good free throw shooter, solid interior and help defender with a physical presence. He would fit perfectly and make us even more potent right now. Love yeboah -- but would love having gene & yeboah even more

Even if Eugene didn’t transfer he would probably still be missed this year. Didn’t he have surgery on his knee?

Being objective. Not sure the plan would be Gene would come off the bench if he were still here from the get go. Perhaps as season transpired might have happened. Or redshirt and come back the next year. Having said that I cannot imagine being captain of the team I would have walked out on my team. Seems to be more common today.

If Eugene was here this season several guys would be getting many less minutes. I think it is better the way it is now. He thought he could never make the NBA being at RU. Good luck to him next year at Oregon.

Didn’t he have surgery? Wouldn’t he be sitting out rehabbing if he were here this year? I may be wrong but I thought I heard he had surgery and would have missed this year anyway

He reminds me of Charles Oakley that played on the Knicks. Deceptively fast for a big guy. Great defense. Strong rebounder. Can shoot lights out when open. Except doesnt get in fights. Lol

Yeboah is so much better than I thought he would be. Not sure he is better overall than Eugene, but definitely gives the team a different look, going 4 out 1 in, allowing other guys like Harper and McConnell to post up, and opens up the driving lanes for the rest of the guards.

Every time I see Yeboah play I wonder how some high major blue blood didnt recruit him 4 years ago, and I'm glad Pike did - twice.

Yeboah's from England, not exactly a hotbed of basketball talent. He must have gone under the radar of a lot of coaches.

Eugene would've driven that to the basket and lost it for us. I don't want that selfish ball hogging bum anywhere near our young team. Let him rot with Oregon.

It was obcious Yeboah would fit in better with this TEAM. Let the guy who wants to use the program as a try out for the NBA to go elsewhere. EO just simply isn’t that good. He’d have been a chemistry wrecker. It’s clear how much better this team is due to the way they play together.

To me the season changed when Yeboah became a starter. Could we use Gene? Yes.

I think if Gene came off the bench with young baker (McConnell) Carter and mulchahy we would be a top 15 team in the country. That is if Eugene wasn’t a net negative because of how he started playing

They’re completely different. They both play bigger than their size. O was a 4 who could play some 5 and Y plays 4 for us but is really a 3. O controlled the paint last year. Y gets some huge rebounds but again is really a 3 playing the 4 and doing a great job at it. Myles controls the paint for us and was a BEAST yesterday. I would take both. Can’t convince me otherwise.

Bottom line is I love that Pike built a team. They all play together and pick each other up. I have no clue how they let a 14 pt lead turn into a 6 pt deficit. Maybe the road loss took alot out of them. They better get their legs back quick because we need to stay perfect at the RAC in a few days

In looking at how Pike has built a true team that competes at a high level and continues to set new milestones for this program in the B1G, it’s even more impressive when you consider that two years in a row his best player left before their senior season.

Pike has created a culture here and a type of player that he can recruit to, which is how you build for long term success.

Eugene had a negative impact on this team last year. No one can convince me otherwise

Well, I am happy with this team. The future doesn't have any limitations. Soon, we will have 5* players on the bench.

Some of the people disparaging Eugene are the same ones that were dispirited last year when he was injured. Now he's a bum who hurt team chemistry when he was healthy? If Cliff O signs elsewhere, are you going to say we didn't want him anyway; he's not that good? Geez. He was a warrior for us.

It would have been great to have both guys. Eugene is a hell of a player. But these 2 are different players. We are ranked however, and I wouldn't trade that!

yes, it is easy to be bitter about him leaving, but he was a good player for us.... the details you list are accurate, and, I believe if we had both Eugene and
Yeboah we probably would have a slightly better record than we have right now, winning the
Illinois and/or Iowa away games, where we just came up short.
