It's amazing- last year- hitters were crushing it in the minors for us and this year- we have the pitchers who have been lights out.
Great to see the numbers Sproat and Tidwell are putting up

Yeah I mentioned this last week but it's been the opposite of what we thought so far. I also mentioned that the pitching Lab will be paying huge dividends for the farm and it seems like that is the case so far plus the draft last year which injected some more live arms like Sproat.

Rumor is Jonah Tong has been promoted to Brooklyn. Also some rumors Jett Williams injury might keep him out most of the season but that is not confirmed. It would really suck though.

For anyone wondering why the Mets haven't worn their black jerseys or blue jerseys yet, there's a simple, but almost incomprehensible, explanation. The pants haven't arrived.

As we all know, the Mets primary home uniform is white pinstripes on both jerseys and pants. For their two alternates, they wear solid white pants with no pinstripes. But the pants haven't arrived. So no blacks or blues yet.

You would think that Nike and/or Fanatics, who outfit the Mets, would have the resources to produce pants fairly quickly. But I guess not.

What a colossal F-up. Fortunately it's a F-up with no real ramifications, but a F-up nonetheless.

2 years ago, the Mets hitters would wear out the opossing starting pitchers and make them throw 40+ pitches in 2 innings. Now that almost never happens. Something has gone wrong with this team that has basically the same hitters in the top the lineup.

Who wants to do this to Bill Murray if they show him again?

Jett Williams placed on IL officially with right wrist injury. Boston Baro returns from his wrist injury.

Learn how to slide

Hand popped over home plate
That was arguably blocking the plate, and maybe he did not want his hand stomped.

"• The catcher may not block the pathway of a runner attempting to score unless he has possession of the ball. If the catcher blocks the runner before he has the ball, the umpire may call the runner safe."

"Unless the catcher is in possession of the ball, the catcher cannot block the pathway of the runner as he is attempting to score. If, in the judgment of the umpire, the catcher without possession of the ball blocks the pathway of the runner, the umpire shall call or signal the runner safe. Notwithstanding the above, it shall not be considered a violation of this Rule 7.13 if the catcher blocks the pathway of the runner in order to field a throw, and the umpire determines that the catcher could not have fielded the ball without blocking the pathway of the runner and that contact with the runner was unavoidable."

I don't recall ever seeing a runner thrown out on that situation, where the throw had to be cut off because it was weak and/or off line. With a strong, accurate throw from the LF, Alonso is out by 10 feet.

Interesting that both aspects of the call were CONFIRMED by replay. Meaning had it been called differently on the field, the call would have been reversed. That would not have been pretty.

I take what I said back. After seeing the teplay multiple times, JD never budged off 2nd base. Who knows; if he had they might have tried to get him instead of making a play at the plate.
If JD breaks for third, they maybe can cut the throw and tag him out before Pete scores.
