Maybe for you, but have you noticed how many posters have chimed in with props for the thread? Clearly some see value in them same thing on TOS and FB and my email lists. If I thought people didn't care or like them, I wouldn't waste my time on them and I put in a few hours per day into these when we have an event.

Yeah those same posters can find their weather with an app on their phone or a cursory internet search. If they can't maybe they should just stay in the house if white stuff is falling from the sky.

And I have to disagree with you about you thinking you're wasting (or not) your time. I think I found a viable solution.

What if both numbers and back, who both certainly know their stuff in regard to meteorology and forecasts, each form their own separate Weather threads , and agree to not comment on one other thread?

That way, the people that enjoy numbers thread can go on his, and those that like Bacs threads can go on his.

This is just for weather. Of course everything else is free Game .

Personally, I enjoy both as they are both very knowledgeable, sarcastic, like to banter, but most importantly, are both Big Rutgers fans who are knowledgeable about a host of subjects

Also, they're not defending me, per se - they're mostly just tired of the childish trolling/insults sent my way, as those lead to threads being derailed, which many posters find annoying. Some enjoy it. Whatever.

I enjoy your weather posts because you speak to me/us like educated adults who appreciate more info than I/we can get from a weather app but don’t have the time to follow the “weather weenies” sites.

I live off of 78, west of the GSP.

I intended to play 10/20 Big O or 6/12 OE but got seated first at 1/2 NLHE and it was too good a game to leave when I got called for those. Eventually the fish busted out and were replaced by stronger players but by then it was too late for me to move to the limit games. The cards started to go the other way and I racked up plus $300.

Have you ever checked out the Sourland trails in Hopewell? Not part of the Somerset County Preserve, but still really good:

Some of the best MTB trails in the state. I have taken 8 different guys on their first rides there and each were amazed. Tough to climb the top of the trail to the right out of the parking lot. I used to think it was unclimbable.

Probably room for five more miles of single track in there.

The county should acquire more land there.

Sometimes I wonder how you get through the day. I never compared activity on TOS premium to the free board here, I compared the activity of the two premium boards to each other (in response to your comment that "TOS is tumbleweeds") and the two premium boards have pretty similar levels of activity, judging by active threads and number of posts/views per thread roughly.

Of course the weather threads here get more views/posts than TOS premium, because they have a much longer history here, plus all the bickering/trolling is allowed here, which is half the posts - I bet if weather threads were posted on premium here they'd also have a lot less activity than on the free board like they did for a short while, when I posted them on premium here years ago.

Nice night! Interesting that we play the same games: I play 6/12 OE or 10/20 Big O almost exclusively - or at least when they're available - but will play no limit hold-em when I can't get a seat at those tables. Thought I'd play a lot more in retirement, but I still only play about once every month or so, probably because our home game went from once a month in-person to monthly in-person and monthly on-line. My friend programmed an incredible set of improvements to a Steam version of poker, which our group of 8 played all through the first 18 months of the pandemic and continue to play because it's actually faster/easier than in-person (he automated betting, dealing of a host of games that we play, pot-splitting on high/low games, etc.).

When I started the emails and posts here (and elsewhere) on the weather 20+ years ago, I was astounded that anyone was interested in them, as I thought the same as you, that people could easily get the info on-line (by then most weather info was readily available). But clearly more than a few people like the rapidly updated hyperlocal info, graphics, expertise (including getting decent answers to specific weather questions), etc. provided by me (and other posters), as per many posts saying that.

Not sure why you have such a hard time understanding that. If the service was "useless" people wouldn't give props (and not just to me) and people would opt out of getting daily emails (I send them 1-2x a day before and during weather events), just like people unsubscribe to emails about all kinds of other things, as I ask the ~500 people on my email lists each year to let me know if they want to be taken off and I've never had anyone ask to be taken off them. Not one. And of course I like the attention to some extent - why else does anyone post on a message board?

But this is the only place where there is trolling and heated bickering and IMO 90% of that is because the people who troll me don't like my politics. I think that's pretty obvious from this thread.

Anyway, the "he's attention-seeking" thing is bullshit. And what you guys do w/#s is not busting chops. It's a weirdly sad and childish (and failing) attempt at bullying. Almost certainly due to some deep rooted insecurity.

The funniest thing is, #s just goes around doing whatever he does, posting his opinions on stuff same as you guys and everybody else. But you guys all follow him around the forum, nipping at his heels trying to get him to respond to you and congratulating each other when he does.

Because the weather is so diverse by region in our state it’s cool to read everyone’s observations to see how the storms are playing out.

I rode a couple of miles north thru Westfield this morning, and the snow thickened as I climbed. Up on the ridge at Skytop Drive there was another inch or so in the woods. I didn't get to the north NW slope of the valley, but there may have been more there.
