OT: NCAA College Football Games Thread 10/26-10/28 Thurs-Sat

This guys a fvcking idiot. It met every single category for targeting. Defenseless player and head to head contact. He snapped the receivers head back with the crown of his helmet. He led r with the shoulder and "HELMET". Prime's an idiot as well for questioning the targeting call. His only excuse is he doesn't get to see the replay.

I've noticed there is less tolerence for crown of the helmet than any other aspect of targeting. That hit would be called 100% of the time.

Stanford trying to make another comeback.

Oregon and Lanning really have to regret that loss.

Tenn up on UK 26-24

Night games making up for lack of competitive games in the afternoon window

I think the launching is what gets the targeting call.
It was one of those shots that could go either way.
He did make hit with shoulder but he did elevate to hit ball carrier up around helmet/neck area.
That would have been an easy wrap-up hit and I saw it as a choice to make ninja-hit up high.
Sometimes they want to rock the ball out
Very often I see players trying to fudge the targeting line but not getting away with it.
A shoulder up high in open field will always draw attention
Better to hit hard down low or wrap-up high

No, it wasn't. It wasn't even a close call, it met every single criteria, he made the hit with his shoulder and head tucked down which led to the crown into the jaw line. He went head hunting.

Lots of things "meet criteria" and dont get called.
A shoulder first hit often gets a pass.
Officiating is far from uniform on targeting (Travis Hunter didn't get it on his dirty hit vs Col State -and there was taunting on hit too)

This has the feel of UCLA starting to pull away now if Colorado can’t continue to get TOs which isn’t likely considering they’ve already gotten 4.

Washington TD to get some breathing room 28-19

East Carolina loses again. Now 1-7. Only win against FCS Gardner -Webb. The two year bowl streak ends.
I kind of feel bad for East Carolina. They had some descent teams, were close to getting into a power conference, fans seem great, school supports the team, and more. Always wished they'd get a little more love

Huh? It got a 15 yd. penalty for unnecessary roughness. No where did the helmets meet, thus no head and neck area. You can't call targeting when the helmets don't meet they even reviewed it. You need to watch that play again. Crown of helmet to helmet never gets overlooked on a defenseless receiver.

A Colorado saftey (Woods) was moved to LB for this game.
Now with Shilo (S) out UCLA came right out to hit the newbie S who looked lost

Stanford looking to answer with a big pass to get them into UW territory.

Tenn with some breathing room now too 33-24

Crown of the helmet was not involved on the hit on Travis Hunter.

Nice throw by Sanders, on the money but can they punch it in now.

Without any running game it’s difficult and the OL can’t protect either

Another FGA…14-9 UCLA

UW wise open TD to get some breathing room yet again lol, 35-26 UW

No Mellusi and no Allen for Wisc is tough

Tenn up 33-27 on UK and trying to run off the clock, 3rd and 7 with 2 mins left

Milton converts it on the run

Exactly - blown call much worse than Shilos.
Targeting is not limited to defenders helmet first contact or to victims helmet
Any intentional high hit to head/neck area can be targeting

NCAA Rule Book:

"Leading with helmet, shoulder, forearm, fist, hand or elbow to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area"

"Players are also prohibited from targeting and making forcible contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless player with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulder."

Intentional dirty hit to Head and Neck Area - Hunter had no ball and it hit in front of defender so he knew play was over. I'm not sure officials even know rules

UW driving in the redzone to pull away even more and Stanford strips for a fumble to stay in it.

Great one handed catch by the UCLA receiver with the toe tap inbounds

UCLA TD, liked the call on 2nd down to try and get the big man the TD…too bad it didn’t work…21-9 UCLA…that’s like a mountain for Colorado the way the game has been going..

Stanford converts that strip fumble to a TD…35-33 UW…from possibly going up 16 to instead just up 2

This announcer in OSU-Wisky game is so far up OSU's butt I don't know how he gets any air up there.

CLEAR PI on OSU.. not called... he calls it a lot of pushing and shoving by both guys.

Defender holds down Wisky receiver arm and wacks him in the facemask with ball in the air and close.. never plays the ball at all.. not incidental contact.. no call.

That was criminal... and just the kind of call / no-call that keeps teams like OSU from getting upset.

And replay cannot call it.. why? no idea.

Now they will hold all over the place and run clock and score again...

Well.. at least there wasn't egregious holding on that TD run. Just caught a stunt the "right" way.

Stanford goes for an onsides with 6:44 left down 2, not sure why they did that. UW recovered

Henderson run for the TD 24-10 OSU

Stanford almost got off the field after the failed onsides but then gets a PI on 3rd down….later in the drive same guy who got the PI…got an INT in the endzone…Stanford ball down 2 with 5 min left

Sanders is a hell of an athlete, just amazing watching him. He's being let down by his line and receivers for sure

I don't know why Col keeps having Shedeur drop back for long balls.
Its useless unless you want to kill your QB

4th and 2 coming up for Stanford

Oh man they had it and the playcall was a good one and they dropped it.

Stanford has two timeouts left and 3:20 left..UW just outside the redzone now
