OT - Official Star Wars E8/The Last Jedi Thread

Hope it's better than that last episode was! (VII)[sick]

...though Rogue one was surprisingly entertaining...

I try really hard to like every new SW movie that comes out but SW is so dated even new films remind me of Thunderbirds from 1960s. This film looks like another cliche of the battle chick with a sword thing (like GoT etc)?

Will this episode boldly go where the last one didn't?

Just going to point out it appears that Disney will own the first star wars now and the prequels.

So for us nerds, Disney can now totally send Episodes 1-3 to the recycle bin, and re-make them with real cohorent stories. if you think Episode 1-3 are good I have the following videos to show you why they're not.

I would love to see the prequels redone! If you read the novels, the stories are not bad at all. What sucked were Lucas' scripts and film-making.

One of the many benefits of having kids - watching Lego Star Wars.

So many hidden nuggets. In addition to Vader actually saying at one point: "Rebels, come out and play-ee-aaay!!", the subtle bashes are awesome. Luke commenting to Ben, if he was try to hide, why didn't he change his last name? Then Ben snapping back - Well, YOU didn't change YOUR last name... Just about everyone asking for an explanation of the Trade Federation stuff...

I am still waiting for the episode where the Imperial Accountants do a cost benefit analysis on the building of Death Stars along with an audit of the building sub contracts. This would be the most interesting and exciting Star Wars of all time.

You must have appreciated this...

Feel free to laugh and make fun but my 14yr old son had a similar reaction. Not as pronounced but it got to him like it did for her as he could see with his own eyes the connection to “A New Hope.”
I liked Rogue One better than Force Awakens (too much rehash/unoriginal) and that last scene with Vader was one of my favorites in the movie. It's really one of the few times you actually see him be bad ass and live up to the aura/hype that's created for him in the series.

The prequels, specifically the last one, should have really set that up but biggest thing he did was kill a bunch of younglings or whatever they called them. Big letdown to me.

LOL! Nice. And the Imperial Storm Troopers unionize, and demand blasters that can hit stuff.

Yes! And the union invests storm trooper pension funds in casinos on a planet the Empire wishes to destroy forcing the Storm Troopers to stage a walk out and conduct protracted negotiations with the Emperor. This could be another episode and certainly more original than the last installment.

Rouge one is my favorite star wars I thought it was awesome without any of the star wars background

Just watched The Last Jedi. It's released on the 14th in Thailand. It was OK, I liked it better than the previous one. But it was nothing great. I won't say anything more for now.

For me it was as good as any of the original 4, 5, 6 and I'd probably put it on par with Empire Strikes Back which is my favorite.

Hopefully Last Jedi is closer to Rogue One than Force Awakens. IMAX on Sunday at AMC Loews, so we'll see.

I hope that one of the standalone movies focuses on Jar Jar Binks!

Agree that Rogue One was awesome....they introduced a lot of really good characters, its too bad they had to kill them off

Watching tomorrow with my sons. My oldest is really into fan theories and there’s a theory lingering out there that Rae is actually a Palpatine...now that would be a major plot twist...

NJ.com would blow the lid off of those spending practices. They would have a field day with the Emperor(Barchi). I could see Darth Vader doing a Tim Pernetti impersonation on live TV.
