2017 PG Aaron Thompson Released by Pitt

You can play and win with combos. It's just a different set up. Plenty of teams do it.

A true pg makes it easier, but it is not the end all by all. I tend to favor a true point guard.

Baker sees the floor well. He has a shooters mindset though, and that is something the team absolutely needs.

Of course teams can win with "combo/ lead guards" trying to convert scoring guards into PG, but ever since Damon Santiago, this has been hit or miss.

I would argue mostly miss because it takes a couple of years for the kid to develop and puts a lot of pressure on the rest of the roster to either compete for shots or compensate for the PG being a step slow on D (or both).

I get that but until he shows improvements in his game, he's hasn't lived up to the hype.

Corey was an honorable mention all Big Ten selection as a sophomore for a 3-15 team. Corey certainly has areas he needs to improve in his game, but Corey was certainly not a "can't miss" high school prospect. I do not believe he was rated as a Top 50 kid by any recruiting service coming out of high school. I think the "hype" you refer is your own creation.

What I mean by that is that he has not shown that he can lead a team. Can he shoot? It's ok. Can he defend? He has made strides. Can he set up his teamates? The jury is still out. The person I made the comment to feels like we should get Washington because he's a 4 star

I am not softening my stance. I stand by the original statement which was about the Pitt transfer being a 4 star player. I said it doesn't always pan out just look at Corey. What has he really done to elevate this team? You need to stop posting if you can't handle what I wrote.
Yeah its soooo intense...I can handle it just fine...I can also take exception with you crapping on our best player and post it on a Rutgers basketball message board...thats how this works genius. I didn't tell you to stop posting...I just said what you posted crap...can you handle that?

And can you handle the truth? It doesn't matter if he's our best player or not. I said that he was not living up to his billing. Can you handle that?

He was a Top 75 ranked player. I think he's playing right where his billing would suggest he should be at. A solid to great contributor at the high major level.
