You can play and win with combos. It's just a different set up. Plenty of teams do it.
A true pg makes it easier, but it is not the end all by all. I tend to favor a true point guard.
Baker sees the floor well. He has a shooters mindset though, and that is something the team absolutely needs.
Of course teams can win with "combo/ lead guards" trying to convert scoring guards into PG, but ever since Damon Santiago, this has been hit or miss.
I would argue mostly miss because it takes a couple of years for the kid to develop and puts a lot of pressure on the rest of the roster to either compete for shots or compensate for the PG being a step slow on D (or both).
