Basketball 2024-25 Rivals All-Big Ten Conference Basketball Teams

Sigh ... recency bias. Sorry, there is no way Harper is not better, and did not have a better, season than Queen. Period.

And with all due respect, I think a case can be made Bailey had a better season this year also, or as good - even with his inconsistency, and his apparently hitting the wall down the stretch. Queen WAS better than Bailey the last 10 games or so, true enough. But Bailey was better the 1st 20 games - and even the 1st 10 games of the Big 10 season.

Bailey - Starting Jan 1, and the 10 games of the Bog Ten schedule in January into early February: 22.2 ppg, 8.2 rpg (including 2.9 off rpg), 47% FG, 43% 3-point FG, 74% FT, 1.9 blocks/g, 1.3 ass/g, 1.3 stl/g, 1.8 TO/g, 54%+ eFG% ... 10 games with 20+ points, 4 games under 10 points, 7 double-doubles .. he had 3 games of 30 or more points, 3 of 25 or more points, 5 games of 24 or more points.

Queen - Last 10 games of the season, starting Feb 9 and extending into the Big Ten tourney: 19.4 ppg, 10.7 rpg (2.9 off rpg), 52.5% FG, 2-6 3-point attempts (had been 2-22 prior to that last 10 games), 82% FT, 1.1 blocks/g, 1.5 ass/g, 1.0 stl/g, 2.3 TO/g, 53% efg% ... 12 games with 20+ points, 6 games under 10 points, 8 double-doubles ... he had 1 game of 30+, 5 games of 25 or more, 7 games of 24 or more points.

So ... despite the RECENCY bias of Queen, plus Maryland's winning record, Bailey's 10-game stretch IN THE BIG TEN, to start January was distinctly BETTER than Queen's 10 game stretch (also all Big Ten games), to finish the season.

Harper? Frankly, not really that close - remember, Harper's AVERAGES are really distorted by 3-4 games he should NOT have been playing because he was still sick, and played on a bad ankle when he could not even move (Notably, and for sure, the Wisconsin, half of the PSU and the MSU games ... maybe the 1st Purdue game). If you look at the "recency bias", once he came back nearly 100% healthy, starting with the Illinois game, in those last 10 games, THAt 10 game stretch he averaged 21 ppg, 4 rpg, 4 ass/g, 48% FG, 33% 3-point FG, 82% FT, 0.7 blocks/g, 2.2 stl/g, yes, 2.9 TO/g, 54% eFG% ... On the season Harper had 17 games of 20 + points, and 4 games under 10 points (all injured or sick - in other words not because he had a "bad" game or was defended, like Queen and Bailey had been) ... 3 games of 30+ points, 6 games of 25 or more points, 9 games of 24 or more points.

Sorry - these All Big Ten teams are simply WRONG.

Very hard to pick up season honors in any sport from a losing team.
