Choosing among Iowa State, RU, UConn, South Carolina and Illinois.

Do we have a good shot? Todderick thinks most are leaning toward Iowa State.

Mitchell has a strong athletic pedigree as his mother, Sha-Ri, has found success on multiple sports fields in her day. She was a record-breaking track star at Nebraska, and also starred as Blaze on the hit nineties show American Gladiators.

Meanwhile, his father, Rodney, was known as "Knightmare - The Duke of Doom" on the medieval-themed athletic show Knights and Warriors.

If it is Iowa State I will assume he feels he has a better shot to play there right away. As bad as we were last year the cyclones have been a door mat in the big 12 for many years and will probably remain so. So I have to believe he will not be a great loss if we don't get him.

Iowa State would crush us if they played us.

I don't know about crushing us but right now they may be better but I think we have a bigger upside. They seem to be treading water in terms of their level of play for several, actually many, years now. Iowa beats them at recruiting in state and the rest of their league beats them out of state so they are stuck in the mud. My point about this QB is simply that he looks pretty good but I think he is as good as any other QB we have offered so if we get him, good, if we don't it is not necessarily a disaster.

Great minds think alike.
BTW, we are leaving town. Our youngest son was admitted to the Academy of Allied Health and Science in Neptune. We moved to town for the excellent school system, and we barely used it. We are moving closer to Neptune/Freehold.

Trolls are out in full force on the NJ.com article. Do sumtruth, ForumTitan and scarletknightpride have anything else to do but bash RU?

Sorry to see you go but wish you all the best of luck.

I think it is getting g to the points t on NJ.com in general that shutting g down the comments completely on the entore site would be a smart move. And this point it serves no purpose but for people to be say f'ed up things.

Many are the same people with different screen names. NJAM continues to allow it and pretty much it's just the trolls there now.

I would give Ash a B- in recruiting but an A+ when it comes to bringing in grad transfers.

If he does go Iowa State, wonder why?
Iowa State has been a dumpster fire for a while. They hired an EXPERIENCED head coach for 2016 and still went 3-9.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_Iowa_State_Cyclones_football_team

The new ISU coach seems to be a much better recruiter than anyone that has been there in the past. It hasn't paid off to much yet but they say he is making a lot of progress with relationships and at least getting in the door with some higher rated recruits. Last years class was an improvement over what had been going on. Ames is a tough place for visiting teams to play. They have a very good, albeit smaller, fanbase. Will they ever be a Big 12 power, doubtful, but they are looking like they will be much more competitive than they have been the last few years. Matt Campbell will have to hustle but you can win at ISU.

Another poster proved it was someone working for NJO based upon IP addresses. NJO then banned the person who outed them.

That is insanely pathetic but not surprising. But hey! Let's link every single article of theirs on here and give them more clicks!

As I said the day Ash was hired, it was a mistake to take hire a coach with absolutely no NJ recruiting history or personal connections. Teams like ours will get very few (we did get Odin, FWIW) top players outside of our area until we get a better team and the only way to do that is to recruit quality kids with an affinity for the school - ie, kids from our area who would go to RU for reasons other than thinking we will be a top team very soon.

He was doing great in NJ until the season went to hell. It seems like Ash knows how to handle recruiting, he just dug himself a gigantic hole with the way last season unfurled. I'm hoping he can pull off a class similar to 2017 and build some momentum on the field.

Do you watch the high school football team? They have that one kid, McAllister, who is highly recruited. Not many kids go P5 from RFH.

Before I retired I worked with one of the assistant coaches. I still stay in contact and he says the kid is the real deal. We shall see what. If anything, happens.

If he's an Iowa St. lean, what would the difference be in him playing in New Jersey?
1700 miles vs 2800 miles.
That said, looks like flight times to Ames, IA and Newark are about the same. If I am a California kid, and looking at Ames, Iowa versus New Jersey with proximity to the Jersey Shore and NYC, I lean toward New Jersey. But as we all know, NJ has a bad reputation as far as a place to live.

I could be wrong here because I am not current with the QBsituation at ISU but he might be thinking he has a better chance of starting right away there since we have Lewis on board this year. Just a guess but it could be the deciding factor.

Here's what I found:
http://www.widerightnattylite.com/2...iowa-states-2017-football-roster-cyclones-isu
QB1 - Jacob Park* (rJR)

QB2 - Zeb Noland (rFR) 3-star 0.8300 rating

or Joel Lanning* (rSR)

QB3 - Kyle Kempt (rSR)
or Devon Moore (FR) -3 star 0.8468 rating

They have two Freshman QBs that are rated not that far off from Jonathan Lewis (0.8558). So that's two QBs he will have to pass on the depth chart.

We have only one Freshman to compete against, and the Temple walk-on, and the transfer from Southern Connecticut.

At most, it looks like a push, and perhaps a bit easier here at RU.

Flight times are about the same because there's a stop over along the way to Des Moines. It's a direct flight to Newark.
Iowa City is 113 miles from Ames IA.

I can always count on. You to set me straight. Maybe he just likes Iowa.

We've known for a long time that there's a handful of people with multiple ID's who post regularly in that cesspool, sometimes replying to themselves to simulate an actual discussion. I used to spend time over there, pointing people who were actual RU fans over here and to Scout, but after a while it become so inundated with trolls it wasn't worth wasting the time.
