4-0

Good game! Everyone is doing what they are supposed to do. Sa is getting blocks. Thiam made 3s. Gettys grabbed boards and chipped in a little on O. Nigel was a stud. The list goes on. It's almost as if Pike has a specific area of the game he wants each player to focus on. And in the end, it all adds up to a win.

I hope more people start showing up because this team is fun to watch. Now I know it is OOC but we will steal a few games in conference play

I really like what I'm seeing. We have size and depth. We play tough defense and we rebound. For me this bodes well when we get into B1G play.

I thought the officials called too many ticky-tacky fouls on us with the hand checks. Yes, I realize that the NCAA wants the officials to call it, but today's game was an example in calling it way too much.

I also like to know what Corey said (he literally said about three words) before getting his second technical and getting thrown out of the game. That was a quick and crazy situation especially because the Niagra kids were guilty of jawing throughout the game.

Its a remarkable transformation after just four games as compared to last season.Far better coaching staff combined with a infusion of new talent has made Rutgers mens basketball a pleasure to watch and with the fan base hopeful of future success.

Hey - good saying hello today - agree on the crowd. Disappointed more people didn't show up, especially given free entry for those with a football ticket stub.

Pikiell is doing with this team exactly what he said he would. Defense and rebounding. This team is also very young and will only get better. We have some very promising young players. I'm very optimistic about our future with the new facilities coming.

The players are having fun playing, too. Rice was making them better, but his intensity caused them to dislike playing. Jordan didn't coach them much, which reflected in winning only seven games last year. Pikiell is a combo of Rice's basketball acumen and Jordan's approachability, and then some.

Next up in the North Texas Mean Green. In an odd scheduling twist, we have three common opponents - Drexel, Hartford and Niagara.

We have both played Drexel. We beat the Dragons by 21, UNT lost to Drexel by 21. Hope I haven't jinxed the team by posting this.

Pike is getting the players to accept their roles that he sees as a major key to success. From the limited I've heard the players know their roles, are happy to contribute, PLAY D, and have each other's back. Looks like great chemistry on the team which bodes well.
Haven't seen yet but they seem a bit reminiscent of Bob Wenzel's first (1989-90? team) with Eddie Jordan and Jeff Van Gundy assistants (won the Atlantic 10 after preseason being picked dead last in conference).

More then half way to last years win total. Ok, now its time for me to let it go.

Great start to the season, keep it going.

I will take a wait and see approach. The 2 name teams we beat are Drexel and DePaul. I am not sure how good they are this year. Miami, Stonybrook, FDU, and SHU should show us how good we are this year.

To give a football analogy early season games are like the 1st few football games when we play Howard, New Mexico, and MAC / Sunbelt / CUSA teams.

In response to this, these four teams have all played one another because it is part of the Scarlet Knight Showcase, essentially a preseason showcase to help with scheduling for all teams. I'm sure there is some money exchange or cost of travel involved that RU pays as part of host of this Scarlet Knight show case

Just watched highlights on SK.com. Mike Williams talks about being 4-0 for the first time since becoming a Scarlet Knight, how good it feels, etc.

I'm just really happy for these kids, especially guys like Williams who have seen more than their fair share of dark days. Great to see him enjoying himself, and seeing what it's like to win again.

It's still early, but this appears to be spot on. It also helps to have assembled perhaps the best group of assistant coaches that RU has ever had. (Wenzel with Jordan and Van Gundy come to mind as the second best).

I like how EVERY player that enters the game seems to know his role and
CONTRIBUTES !
That's because everyone is playing their natural positions. I like what I see so far but it feels like most of you didn't watch any games last year.

I get it, Coach has to say that 4-0 means nothing because he wants the players to continue to work hard. But, fact is, 4-0 and getting a 25th place vote in the AP poll is very significant for a team that has been mired in rock-bottom losing, both from a confidence standpoint and from the standpoint of generating some fan interest and some positive press. Listen to Mike Williams' post-game interview and tell me that 4-0 means nothing. For the first time since Mike arrived on the banks 3 years ago, the kid has something to smile about and be proud about.

It is called the Scarlet Knight Showcase where we get the other 3 at home and they rotate between home and away .
