Great win over No. 10 Syracuse, too!I was there. I went with my father. We got lost, and first went to Livingston Gym, thinking - “this is the new arena?”
First season in that Arena already had some classic games, Including NIT Wins over Coach K’s Army & Larry Bird& Indiana State..

Still the first season (1977-78). 👍Indiana State was 1978 (looks like Army was also).
Who was there?
I was at that game as a kid - it was awesome. I think that was the game when Hollis Copeland came out of nowhere to reject Roosevelt Bouie. Could be wrong though. Edit: Found this article: RU-Cuse 1978Great win over No. 10 Syracuse, too!

Looking back, so strange that we played The Hall at the RAC again a month later. (Beat 'em again, too! )
Still the first season (1977-78). 👍
Getting upset in the opening round of the Eastern 8 tournament killed our chances of making the NCAA that season. We were the No. 1 seed. WVU was the No. 8 seed.

Oh do I miss that popcorn machine.Popcorn machine ! Better than the movie theater
If I remember correctly, it was the regional game of the week on Channel 4 with Marv Albert and Bucky Waters.I think I was. The Syracuse win that year is more memorable.
Sorry to hear that.I was there - coworker and I had season tickets. He just passed away a month ago in FL.
I may have been at that second SHU game. We beat them pretty soundly. I think the reason we played them again so soon was because it was part of the Jersey Classic Tournament.Great win over No. 10 Syracuse, too!

For oh so many years, the first thing that hit your sensories when you stepped into the RAC was the smell of that delicious popcorn.Oh do I miss that popcorn machine.
So far I’ve outlived two guys I had tickets with. 😩Sorry to hear that.
My first game at the RAC. St. Patrick's Day 1980 - Celtics v. Nets. They had green popcorn. Also, the whole building was rooting for the Celtics although Eddie Jordan got cheers when Nets lineup was announced. For oh so many years, the first thing that hit your sensories when you stepped into the RAC was the smell of that delicious popcorn.

ME !!Who was there?
In the early 80's I moved up from 106 to 203 and sat next to a guy who was pushing 80 years old. NOW I'M THE GUY.So far I’ve outlived two guys I had tickets with. 😩
I remember that well! Ba ba ba Syracuse sucks. LolIn that first year many of the students were in the 300 level, including my group for the Syracuse game. It so happens that the Orange brought a significant band presence that sat up there near us. Their band had a rhythmic tune they played regularly that ended with some fight song cheer. Well, they were quickly overwhelmed by RU students and fans who completed their song in perfect timing with “Syracuse Sucks”! And their band never stopped playing it so this continued throughout the game. For many years after my wife referred to it as the “Syracuse Sucks” game.
Yep! 😉I was there.
ME !!
Season ticket holder from day 1.
Mike, you sit right across from me. ROW J
Awesome story despite the lost seat!I was there. Actually unscrewed a seat back and hid it in my puffy jacket and walked out the door. Wrote the score and date on it and it went on my Birchwood Terrace apartment wall. No clue where it is today.
