49 ers looking to trade Anthony Davis

There was an article in Big Blue View that the new Giants OL Coach is the former 49ers OL Coach and is pushing for the Giants to trade for the rights to AD. I would love to see this move happen before the draft so the Giants can get a edge rusher or Lber and not have to go O-lineman again this year.

The big question is what the 49ers are asking for. One more concussion and Davis would likely retire permanently. You don't give up even a 4th rd. pick for someone who might only play for 1 season. A 2016 6th and a 2017 6th contingent on his playing that year would be as much as the Giants could reasonably offer. That might not be enough.

shaky pick up BTW has he officially returned to Pro ball? I would assume yes as they are trying to trade him. Can they trade him even if his still sitting out FB?

He needs to apply to be reinstated. Reports are he either has already applied or is preparing to.

Didn't see this threat in addition to the one I started. If the Giants can sweeten the deal for the 49ers and take Bethea at safety too (who they are also looking to move), it fills two needs (RT and safety) for what should be relatively cheap (maybe a 5th round pick this year and next or something like that).

I'd love for the Giants to trade for AD but the move is just too risky. Like mdk01 said he retired once out of the blue, whose to say that after playing a year he doesn't decide to retire again. The trades not worth more than a 5th rounder even though he's 1st round material.

The Giants have drafted very well the past 2 years. Honestly who saw beckham coming..Reese deserves getting sh*t for botching the '10-13 drafts, but deserves positive credit for recent drafts as he's found some nice players late in drafts/ufa (Kennard, tye) and looks to have found gems in beckham,Hankins, richburg and potentially flowers. 10th overall this season.

You trade a 5th because it's a 5th. I think if the Giants could get AD for that you're thankful and if you figure out how to get Bethea as well, even better. Regardless, I think you could safely go to war with AD as your RT. As far as suddenly bailing on the Giants I mean any thing's possible, but the guy obviously wants to resume playing. Why not back at home? Makes too much sense

Agreed, a healthy Davis is better than a first-round pick!!! 4th round or less, and he's an absolute steal!!!

The 49ers did, they offered 2 first rounders to the Giants to trade up and grab Beckham and got turned down...

Thinking about this, Reese has been feeling some heat with the poor performance over the last few seasons. There is some pressure to get back to the playoffs and if AD is healthy he can be a solid anchor on the OLine.

Once Accorsi's players started leaving do to retirement or free agency the winning began to wane. Reese has struck out way too often in the draft and free agency. The mid to late round level talent Accorsi used to find was uncanny. This guy Reese simply doesn't have Accorsi's eye for talent or knowledge on how to assemble a team. I wish he went with Coughlin.

Seemed like a lot of people wanted him gone as well. Think the big splash in free agency this year is an indication of a short leash, however if you have a bad OLine and can get a RT like AD for a 5th you take that deal anyday.

Accorsi was a hell of a GM. Watch the 30 for 30 Elway to Mariano.

Accordi was great no doubt. Hands down better than Reese. I will say, though, that Reese isn't given enough credit for his '07 draft. Literally every player from that draft played a part in securing the most unbelievably satisfying win I have ever seen.

As far as the OL, the Giants pass offense is based on getting the ball out of Eli's hands really quick (I believe he had quickest release of any Qb last season, definitely top 3). OL doesn't need to be beastly in pass pro. 3 of the 5 positions are set with the chance to be outstanding- Flowers, Pugh, Richburg maybe 4 if Hart is the real deal at RG. Although the numbers rarely tell the entire story, they did have a top 10 offense.

Alas, there are 2 parts to offensive football, and it's safe to say the run game was pathetic. Many factors could play into that (poor OL, the ever so horrible RBBC, just plain bad running backs). Even more important than a RT in this draft is WR2, right now there's nobody!! I like treadwell in the first with a trade back to 15 via St Louis, or Carroo in the 4th(steal)
