We had to drive from State Street to the campus, and it was on a highway too. I would say it took substantially longer than a non-rush hour drive from Cook to College Ave.

True. But it's not that far. You traveled on 101. Yes, if traffic is bad it will take you a substantial amount of time. But the drive is no more than 15 minutes.
