Keep yelling, it really helps to get your point across.OK, U CAN SAY THAT AND YOU MAY BE RIGHT, BUT THAT IS NOT THE FIRST TIME I HEARD THAT ABOUT HASKINS. NOT SURE HOW YOU KNOW HASKINS' MOTIVES SO INTIMATELY. BUT MAYBE YOU DO.

I tried to find this out and the OP got a little hissy with me so I wouldnt expect that info any time soon. He meant to title the thread "gossip: i heard from someone who heard from someone else" subtitled: "look at me".at what point in this thread will we get the...
"inside info on how PSU schemed RU?"
?Their DC who will be leaving to become Happy Valley this season.
RE: Barkley - he said people at PSU compare him to Ray Rice. Also, said what I have heard many times before - he liked Rutgers and coaches, but he said they have "no juice" (i.e., no stain). Said that Haskins had no interest in Rutgers and played them the whole time. He said he was not a friend of Haskins but knows his circle. He was not sure what would happen if Edsall is fired. Thinks it would depend on who came in.
It would have been a close game if the OC didn't keep calling run plays up the middle on every first down throughout the whole first half, when the game was close.
When you can't throw it down field and you rely on dink and dunk, you need to throw on first down. If you pick up yards, then decide whether to run on second down. But Laviano was constantly put in 2nd and 9 situations where, had they thrown, 60% of the time, he would have been in second and short.
As it was, on 2nd and long, he then had a 60% chance of completing the next pass for third and short. And a 60% chance of completing the third down pass for a first down. Do the math. You're not going to get more than a couple of first downs before you have to punt.
We gave them that game employing a strategy that had no chance of winning. Kudos to them for shutting down the run. Shame on our staff for going to it over and over and over and over because, "that was the game plan."
From a defensive player. PSU expected a close game with RU. Thought RU had a good offensive line and good runners, but they felt good about how their D-line stacked up against them. No discussion about RU's QB being good or bad at downfield passing. PSU wanted to run and possess the ball, and wanted Barkely to get the ball a lot. But, really nothing stood out for him in terms of what RU would do offensively. They were all surprised it was so one-sided. RE: Barkley - he said people at PSU compare him to Ray Rice. You need to post more.
Great job.
Probably piling on him because he only comes here to tell us how his students think Rutgers sucks despite nobody caring what his students say or think. I know plenty of recruits who think Franklin is a piece of shit, their campus is racist, their only good coach is leaving, their culture is disgusting, and that Franklin is a piece of shit. How would it be accepted if I went to BWI and started a thread about it every few weeks? That's exactly what he does here......Piling on the OP for talking to a PSU player? A bit touchy don't you think? What did he report that is so controversial? Flood and staff have no " pizzazz"?...Nice guys always finish last. Barkley is Ray Rice sort of good?... Did you watch the game? There wasn't much discussion on Laviano?... Well it was only his third game. Haskins played RU?...That was very obvious the way it unfolded and many of us said exactly that at the time.
This is true. Many players have told me he is a phoney and can't coach, but they like his staff. I completely agree with this.Probably piling on him because he only comes here to tell us how his students think Rutgers sucks despite nobody caring what his students say or think. Not a Penn State fan, work at Penn State.ImBadRu is a Penn State fan. Literally every post is "I'm a RU fan but PSU...".
Why do people respond to him other than stating the above. I'd like to see his threads turn out to be the OP and just 50 replies on after the other saying "PSU fan".

Thanks. Flood is on record, over and over, talking about how "at Rutgers, we run the ball." But I seriously question if he realizes what he's gotten himself into with this offense and this QB.-----
Agreed... Too often our offense is predictable, leading to 2nd or3rd and long
Me, I would like to see a bit of gambling when playing a top 5 team..... Throw often on first down... Do the unexpected.... A short pass on first down is easier to complete first down....
Thanks. Flood is on record, over and over, talking about how "at Rutgers, we run the ball." But I seriously question if he realizes what he's gotten himself into with this offense and this QB.
Laviano has been effective. The completion percentage tells the story. But this offense dictates throwing on first down. You have to be thick in the head to not see it. Once the defense starts expecting pass, THEN you try to run. The way things went at PSU, they knew we were running and we did and they stopped it every frickin' time.
Drives me crazy that the coach doesn't seem to understand, who he has on the field and the plays they are running mandate a change in philosophy from what worked last year. With Nova, you could get stuffed on first down and still have an above average chance of making a first down. That's gone. And if you still want to do it, then you have to play the other QB.
I don't care which they chose but they can't act like they have a QB who can flip it 20 yards in the air and bail out the clock killing strategy that is running on first down. You want to play dink and dunk, then you're dinking and dunking all night long or you will never score enough to win football games against anyone with a pulse. Not with this defense.

It's possible to win football games even when you hope to do something going in and can't. But no one wins football games when they refuse to stop doing what isn't working, until it's too late.-----
We lost the PU game because we hoped to rush against them even if they knew it was coming.....we don't have the horses for that..... We have talent, but not dominant talent on the line
Franklin is a bad coach, but he is better than Flood, which is quite telling.
TTFP may not be a bowl team, barely escaped Army, blown out by Temple, but blew our doors off.
And some here find that acceptable, which is not accepting mediocrity, but rather embracing failure, before we get to the off the field dumpster fire he created.
That;s a good definition. Me being not so hip to the street/recruiting lingo thought it had something to do with bringing girls, intoxicants, sportswear swag, and Frankilns to the party. And I don't mean the coach.Stain means having charisma, gravitas or dynamic personality. A strong leader. An outwardly impressive person. The guy who takes your girl to his prom.
This is true. Many players have told me he is a phoney and can't coach, but they like his staff. I completely agree with this.
A number figure out he is a phony and DOES NOT coach after they get here. However, the guy has charisma like mad. These are kids, so its fair to say they can be manipulated and persuaded by him and his PR machine. I really think you like to twist my words MADHAT.So Franklin has no stain or juice and a phony as well ! But he still is able to recruit talent and they don't have a clue about the Nit players not liking their HC ?
Or the recruits don't respect Franklin because he's a phony with no stain or juice , but they commit to PSU because of JF's staff because the staff has juice stains, especially the OC..[jumpingsmile]

OK, whatever."I really think you like to twist my words MADHAT" [roll]
I think you enjoy putting down Rutgers and are disappointed the way the Nits are playing under Franklin.
So Franklin is fair game for you now, in an effort to be seen as a RU fan that happens to work at Penn St..
.Hold on there! I agree that they didn't play very well but I think that execution is a bit much of a punishment.:sunglasses:Rutgers didn't show up for psu that's for sure. The players particularly at the line of scrimmage, the coaches etc. not sure how much was the distractions and a tough place to play etc but bottom line they didn't show. Hoping they are better than that. Need to execute.
We have a larger core fan base than what a lot of you guys are getting at.
You're gunna tell me we don't have some of the most loyal fans? If you're willing to suffer with a program for so long, you become a deeply loyal fan... We have that in bunches.
Our floor # in attendance is higher than what our ceiling was not too long ago. The # of fans is fine - just gotta see how many come back stronger when the dust settles.
We'll probably lose some fans (clean program, academic type) and gain some others (football factory fans) -

Stain means having charisma, gravitas or dynamic personality. A strong leader. An outwardly impressive person. The guy who takes your girl to his prom. Think George Patton, Bill Parcells, JFK.
The opposite is someone frumpy, unimpressive and uninspiring. Wimpy. The kind of guy who got sand kicked in his face by the tough guy in the beach movies. Think Charlie Brown, Costanza,,etc.
But we have 35,000 in the seats at kickoff and about 5,000 students. They have 100,000 in the seats at kickoff and 20,000 students.
