Pike-hating: so predictable and wrong.

I left them out because neither game was a one possession game. Our offense is better than any pike offense bc he has two elite players. He still runs the same offense he always has, iso ball.
Your memory is faulty and you were not there. Both were 1 possession with under a minute to go. We had the lead against A&M with 3 minutes to go when Jeremiah hit the three77-76.
Now you claim he runs no offense and iso ball. Wonder if you watch much college basketball. Every team in the top 20 runs iso ball . Hurley went to a European clinic 3 years ago and runs non stop picks and replace and swings and changed his entire offensive scheme. Every body else from Kentucky to Auburn to Alabama to Kansas runs iso ball and they let their better players operate . We run high pick and roll , not enough and we should be running pick and Pop with Dylan and Ace 10 times a game but only do it once or twice. We run some sort of zoom action like almost everybody else. Purdue and UConn are outliers and run multiple cuts and pin downs. We should be doing more there. Offense is not the issue.

Those games ended with it not being a one possession game, but I hear what you are saying. As for running iso ball, I’m not sure we’re watching the same game. I’ve watched Bama and Auburn multiple times because they have played a bunch of big10 teams between them. They are constantly running off ball actions for shooters do they run some iso action? Sure, but they get everyone involved. Why else would Rutgers have one of the lowest assist rates in the country? Look at the assist rate of all the teams you mentioned they are all top in the nation. You don’t get that from playing primarily iso ball.

Our assist rate is down because the times we have had PJ or Zack three point open looks they have not made a lot of them not to mention the lack of hitting open threes by Jordan and to a lesser extent Jeremiah and even worse JMike along he hit 2 yesterday. There was great unselfish ball movement leading to open looks that are not knocked down.
Dylan was getting 5-6 a night but lately 4 or so. Just one example from yesterday when Dylan and JMike were on a 2 on 1 break and though I yelled for Dylan to take it himself he was unselfish and instead of getting an assist JMike got the layup batted yo the third row. Another lost assist. We run some screens for PJ and he has to come off the screen shooting and instead he hasn’t pulled the trigger a number of times unless he is totally open. That cuts into assist totals. Every time Dylan drives is an assist possibility something we have not had in forever. Ace has stopped passing the ball once the ball has been swung to him but it he put it on the floor assists are there if he doesn’t shoot. Really not a team of ball hogs and just pure iso .

and its the largest issue with the team. They all are just going at things individually once they touch the ball. If they played as a team the game would be different for them.

Same could be said on the defensive end...all about being a team. If they can understand that and start playing together(thats really the largest change I want to see) then we can start stacking wins

You lost me at Zach and PJ not hitting 3s on the open looks they’ve had, and partially blaming them for the low assist rate lol that’s comical.
Zach 44% from 3.
PJ 43% from 3.
For reference Cam Spencer shot 43% from 3 two years ago.
The problem is Pike and the staff do nothing to get them open looks. They both should be shooting 5+ 3s a game.

I agree that each should be shooting 5 a game definitely for PJ and if Zack’s first one goes down , sure he gets 5 as well . Problem is they are just standing in a corner and not coming off a pin down or screen. I agree Pike should run more pin downs but I have seen PJ hesitate if not completely open and he doesn’t use the screen and shoot right away.
Nothing comical about assist totals being lower when PJ and Zack miss threes on open looks. PJ has not gone on a heater in any game. He was 1-5 in the Texas A& M game on almost all open looks. He was 2-5 in another recent game not sure if Penn State game. We need a 4-4 shooting game from him and we need him to keep moving to get the ball and get open.
