I am fine with the 3 guard set up versus a team like yesterdays, but in the big I think we won't have as much success running it. Although, I do think lion Mike Williams can rebound with small forwards. He has that heart.
I would like to see more screens run for Goode to get him some time. I like him in the game for his overall focus and IQ. He is still the threat Jordan said he was.
When we can't run three guards, I hope we see progression from Laurent. Foreman had a bad ft shooting night versus St Johns, but hit 4-5 yesterday. Improvement. Also, 10 boards, great improvement. Laurent needs to speed time at the line. In fact, half hour per practice should be spent working on the repetition of free throw shooting. a lot of these guys are going to spend a lot of time this year at the stripe.
How the five will be situated is interesting. I think we see progression from Diallo, but at some point like Coach Jordan said, he can run two big men with this offense. Foreman and Freeman would be okay, but would lack something defensively for 40 minutes a night. Hopefully Lewis steps up.
I don't think last night was just a great shooting night for Williams. I think he will be that guy this year. A great player. Lots of his threes were contested. He is a warrior.
Last year we had Mack second in the team in rebounding I think. I Don't want to see our guards rebounding this year. I want to see a rebound from Foreman/Diallo/Lewis/Freeman, and a quick outlet pass to a guard to give us a shot at a fast break. Mack rebounding prevented that. He was a lion though and showed a lot of heart on a team that was inconsistent.
We got a win and the team seems to be improving in areas. Gotta step up the interior defense but I can't really complain with two of our interior guys posting double doubles.
Let's hope to see some guys step up next couple of games!
