Absolute disgrace: ALL on you Pikes

I think when guys like Geo, Kiss and Eugene are struggling..pike has to trust his freshmen talent to help the team....interesting how effective Harper was toward the end

Interesting how effective the press was...which is WHY, For the life of me, I can’t understand why we didn’t go to it earlier. So ****ing stupid!

Geo looked like he had no energy and you wanted him to chase Honor around full court the entire second half?
His energy looked OK to me. He's just wasn't capable of chasing Honor around, yet he was put in a position where he had to do so, This team WAS MADE TO PLAY zone. The game plan needs to reflect the players' abilities. It doesn't do that IMO on both offense and defense. One good thing out of it - you'll get a bigger spread vs. SHU. Take anything over eight points.

Mathis should have been on Honor all game. No one wants Mathis to cover them. Could have worn him down while saving Geo's energy. Harper needs to play more and create more. He's tough to stop getting to the basket. Mathis also hasn't finished well but gets to the basket and consistently draws fouls.

Bad loss. Sucks. Let's beat SHU

When did you want them to start pressing then? It's hard for us to press. We don't have the guards to do it for very long. We're also too dependent on Geo to score, facilitate and handle the ball. Pressing too much just wears him out.

This. Geo is asked to do too much. He's a two guard playing point, top scorer, top defender, etc. We need other guards to step up. Agree that Pike should have pressed earlier in the game to either stretch lead or cut back deficit with turnovers. This is where a healthy Issa shows RU fans how valuable his defense is to the team. Sorry but I just don't see Kiss either pressing the length of the court or bringing up the ball the length of the court. He just doesn't have the foot quickness. I see him as a spot up shooter, driving to the paint and catch a dunk once and a while. Mathis and Harper need to come on as scorers. Our team needs more scorers.

Love Pike but he got out coached today.

GO RU

OP is a whiny ......who is over emotional

Fair disclosure.....so am I.

I am going to refrain from putting my thoughts down because they are worse than his. I know I will feel better in 24 hours

For the record I respect Nuts opinion, but dont agree.

You are never as good as you look when shots fall and opponents don’t

You aren’t as bad when the opposite happens

A lot not to like. Very discouraged with offensive flow. Too many guys on perimeter getting beat badly off the dribble. Some of it will be fixed, some we will have to deal with all year.

A performance like this was expected to happen at some point. Definitely doesn’t feel good and makes you look at the glasss half empty. This team has warts and today the microscope was out.

BTW - in an article on TOS Pikes heaps pretty much ALL the blame on himself and the staff which is one of the reasons that, despite a bad day, there’s so much to like about this guy going forward.

Pike made a huge withdrawal from the good-will bank today.
Pikiell's failure to recruit a shooter will lead to a lot or problems this season and for as long until the next Quincy Douby gets here. None in sight so far.

Yea the way we looked today Seton Hall is gonna run us out off the court. Did you notice they beat Kentucky today not a crappy Miami team Kentucky. We are not a good team let’s get to 500 maybe.

We have shooters. Plenty of them. Problem is 2 fold

1. Ball is sticking in the hands of Eugene and Geo too much
2. Our shooters are poor on ball defenders

Kiss was wide open down 5 when Eugene charged late in the game.

As a few of us argued. Seeing Baker and Eugene scoring a lot is bad for the team long term.

It is healthy to see a lot of guys chipping in with 8-12 points.

Pike needs to trust Mathis and Haper Jr more as well as Johnson

I don't this we can conclude we have shooters until:
1. They get the ball
2. They put it in the basket.
Who do you count as shooters? Thaim? Kiss? Mathis? All are inconsistent.

Define good? .500 record ?

I would define it as being able to compete/win any game on any given night.

There were many years when I/all of us would know the outcome before the game stated. This team can play with anyone.

Yes, today was brutal. But fans overreact to losses the same way we overreacted to beating down FDU. We have a good team.

Seton Hall had a great win but was not impressed with Kentucky.

Not vintage UK but they'll be dancing in March IMO.

I will guarantee you'll see a better RU team next Saturday in the Pru Center.

Since when has RU b-ball ever won every OOC game they should? This happens every season. There’s always at minimum one OOC game which we should surely win on paper and lose inexplicably. Nothing new this season.

So this team is good compared to past RU teams. I agree with that.
But they are not good compared to other current college basketball teams. Teams that go to the NCAA or NIT tournaments.

Is this football or hoops board? They have become one. We are by far the most unfortunate decrepit set of state athletic program for the 48 contiguous states plus Hawaii.

Its amazing that Fordham has a freshman who can consistently knock down both the spot up jumper and break down his man off the dribble for one. But not RU as a B1G team

I think they have the pieces to be but they may not be quite ready yet. On a night where you get a good game from two of Thiam, Mathis, Kiss, Harper, Johnson or Carter we can play with anyone. Eugene and Geo you pretty much know are solid every game. I think we have a good supporting cast that hasn’t been able to put it all together yet. It’s still early December. The goal is to progress as the year goes on.

I said before the season there would be a WTF loss or two. I’ll be totally honest, I didn’t think it would be to a team as bad as Fordham. This team was terrible and the loss was inexcusable.

One bad performance is not the end of the world. Did everyone just forget the Michigan St and Wisconsin games?

I would not be surprised if it came out at some later time that several guys were sick or certainly not 100 percent

Let's stop with the excuses: Team is young, they had the flu, they were tired, etc. Bottom line is that they were outplayed and outcoached and lost to a middling team from a weak conference. Based on today's performance, the SHU game may get real ugly.

Based on our performance against MSU and Wisconsin it should be a good game against SHU. Can’t judge a team on one game, good or bad.

Nope.... that's the way it works for people around here like Bogy. You judge a team on one bad game and ignore the good games played against MSU and Wisky.
