The Ledger most years has team in Sunday edition. And I hate using Nj.Com. What was the first team this year and where did Tavon Jones wind up?

The All State team has been on line for I think 6 days but it has not been in the printed Star Ledger yet. Tavon made first team for All Groups along with Richards of the Patrick School, Cole of St. Anthony, Quinerly of Hudson Catholic and the big guy from Don Bosco who also plays football. Jones of course also was on first team Group IV along with Crawford of Linden. Joe Krempa the Linden point guard made second team Group IV. All the teams are on NJ.com. One huge surprise was that Naz Reid didn't make any of the teams. Maybe some of the big schools will stop recruiting him. That would be nice.

Shocked not in paper, and saw that Jones made first team.

I think last year it came out very late as well. I would not be surprised if it is in Monday or Tuesday's paper.

I've been very disappointed with the Star Ledger's sports section. It's so inconsistent with reportering Rutgers basketball and football. Plus, I think they get most of their info here. Which may be a good thing ...
Newspapers are reducing sections including number of pages for sports.Coverage of college sports has taken a big hit.

Chicken/egg problem. Need people to buy paper so advertising justified. If people don't buy papers they will slowly disappear and blogs and websites will be all that is left.

BTW, nj.com, which may have its fault, amongst the tops of their local coverage of college football / basketball in a large pro sports media market. We see very little coverage of Stanford/Cal/San Jose St./ Santa Clara/St. Mary's in the local papers in the NorCal area, despite some great success of some of these teams. Often seen the same in other towns having pro teams, such as Seattle, LA, and San Diego.

Yes finally today. I called the Ledger on Monday and spoke with a high school sports editor who thought it already appeared, He said it was supposed to have appeared on Saturday April 1. He said he would call me back and he did within 30 minutes. When he did he told me it would run today and it did. If I had not called I don't think it would have ever been in. It is not like the old days when they would have a special section on the basketball All State team as well as pages on every all county team making for a 12-16 page section. One thing they didn't even have the Top 20 team rankings listed. Last year and this year they had a Final Top 50 but they were only on line.

The number of pages for newspapers has been drastically reduced .All sections including sports have less coverage.
