I actually had a nice discussion with a board member here that touched on politics, but we were really just figuring out why we can't get better candidates to run for President.

I'm going to guess the talent pool will only get worse, especially if the ghouls continue to make the choices for us with no voting

I don't think you are making the point you think you are. Biden ran as a moderate and said he would bring the country together. He did anything but once elected. Harris has flip-flopped all her stances. You can't trust either because it's obvious they are just actors.
Which one of them inspired a mob of traitors to attack the Capital, beat up police officers, set up a gallows, and attempt to hunt down Pence, Pelosi, and anyone else who dared to follow the rules of this country and declare the winner of a fair election ?

Hunter Biden’s laptop.
34 felony convictions
plus these among many other nefarious acts by the perverted con-artist
Trump University : A federal court approved a $25 million settlement with students who said they were duped by Donald Trump and his now-defunct Trump University
Trump Charity:A judge ordered Donald Trump to pay $2 million to an array of charities as a fine for misusing his own charitable foundation to further his political and business interests.
The Trump Foundation was shut down In addition the judge issued stiff requirements for Trump and his family members to meet before they create or oversee any nonprofit in the future.

The pervert ,Donald Trump, has been accused of rape, sexual assault and sexual harassment , including non-consensual kissing or groping , by at least 25 women since the 1970s

Other litigation, involving the perverted one, includes his then-wife Ivana's rape claim during their 1990 divorce (she later recanted) and businesswoman Jill Harth's 1997 lawsuit alleging sexual harassment (Harth dropped the sexual assault lawsuit even though she still claimed to have been sexually assaulted after a breach of contract dispute was settled and an undisclosed payment paid to settled that litigation The sexual assult happened at Mar-a-Lago at a contract signing celebration when her and her boyfriend who was part of the business deal was there

As for the ex wife recanting what she claimed:Their divorce settlement had a confidentiality clause preventing Ivana from discussing the marriage or the divorce. In 1992, Trump sued Ivana for not honoring a gag clause in their divorce agreement by disclosing facts about him in her best-selling book, and Trump won a gag order

Donald Trump was recently found by a jury to have sexually abused and defamed advice columnist E. Jean Carroll and instructed to pay her a total of $88.3 million

There are more , making Hunter's laptop a issue that can't be innored, even if those bringing it up perfer to ignor what I just posted along with all the other nefarious acts trump was involved with or instigated

Question- Joe Rogan- what do you think as far as his inviting both candidates for a free form discussion, and only one accepted, while the other one made demands that it is limited to one hour and taped in DC. IMO, Rogan gets unfairly demonized. Maybe I have not watched enough of his episodes, but from the ones I have watched, he seems to a be genuinely curious on a range of topics, and seeks to explore different view points. If you can't sit down for a couple/few hours and discuss the issues of the day without your rehearsed talking points, what does that say about the candidate? On the other hand, if the other one who sat down for three hours spouts a good amount of nonsense and self-aggrandizing BS, where does that leave independents to make a decision?

“Lawfare”, interesting choice of words. Care to define for the non legal persons among us?

If I was a cynic, I might suggest that it’s been a RW talking point, but I digress. By talking point I mean it’s used as a tool to summarily dismiss the legitimacy of any legal case against him.

A casual review of his legal history indicates a life spent in perpetual litigation- either suing or being sued. As well as stiffing business associates, workers, and those providing services to his businesses. Would that be considered “lawfare” in your definition?

Who in this thread? I have tried listening to the guy, but I find that he thinks he's much smarter than he is and is actually pretty boring. Even the condensed clips on social from him are pretty boring. Man, this thread went off the rails though. Now for more important news: where are the trick-or-treaters? I'm up to my arse in Reese's and Kit Kats.

To each their own. Have watched quite a few of his episodes mostly dealing with doctors, exercise, longevity and health. He speaks pretty much in a stream of consciousness style and can tend to ramble, but he seems to just trying to figure thing out while thinking out loud. Some of it is interesting, and some of it is way too long.

Notice that nobody but bac answered the Rogan question. Funny thing, people call him right wing or conservative. But a lot of people get labeled as such if they don't completely subscribe to the progressive playbook.

Going off the rails yourself here a little KS. All I said was, name the people in this thread who wanted him off the air and expressed my indifference. Didn't label Rogen one thing or the other. Just think it's boring content. I was trying to have a discussion on topic in this thread about media sources- who trusts what and why, where the S-L is headed and where we are headed without quality municipal journalism, but that's impossible here.

Having a conversation is going off the rails?
Like it or note, Rogan is a media source--unedited (for the most part) and unvarnished discussions with a variety of people-comedians, MMA fighters, wrestlers, actors, musicians, physicians, scientists and politicians. Great source of information right from the mouths of various gets who go on the show. Not boring to some people

As to the SL- didn't see as biased to one or the other side, but have not read it in over 20-25 years, and disowned them with their anti-Rutgers antics. Did not even know they did quality municipal journalism. I had mentioned that Gannet NJ (Asbury Park Press) is abysmal in that area. The super local papers like The Coast Star or the various Patch websites.

Really? Are you 100% sure about this?
Quite certain. I just read through the examples people gave and so far, none are proven political conspiracy theories. Just their favorite BS narratives.

Conclusive proof of a conspiracy theory requires an objective presentation of facts that meets or exceeds a courtroom's standard for rules of evidence and procedure. And a political conspiracy theory is about politicians, not politicians kids - why on earth would anybody GAF about Hunter Biden or his laptop?

I thought someone might mention Watergate, which was a conspiracy involving a president and did produce enough evidence for Congress to convict, so Nixon resigned first. But even then, it wasn't a conspiracy theory. Nobody was theorizing. There was a very quiet investigation that remained quiet until enough evidence was found to actually lead to people associated with Nixon being convicted in a court of law. So it was political, but not a conspiracy theory. Just an actual conspiracy (no theorizing needed) that led to arrests of law-breakers for a crime for which we have conclusive objective bipartisan proof that it happened and POTUS was part of it.

JFK's death prompted many conspiracy theories, some of which were political, some geopolitical, etc. But nothing has ever been conclusively proven.

Obama birth certificate? Nope. Bush Jr. Yellowcake? Nope. Trump Russia, the many theories about both Clintons, nope, nope. It's all a bunch of political scandal mongering that spun up lots of drama and billions of words of partisan narrative. But no arrests, no anything but partisan noise.

A couple of things:

Rogen- I don't disagree that he is a media presence, but I find him boring and not very bright. That is all. As you said we can agree to disagree.

S-L- This I find interesting. Folks on this thread, not you necessarily, comment on why the S-L sucks or this source sucks, then admit that they haven't checked the source out in years. Which is it? Also, I said earlier that the S-L is moving towards better local coverage, but is still a long way away from where it needs to be. Everyone is. That's where all our dollars go. The national stuff is actually BS theater in the scheme of things.

Coast Star- The CS is excellent and an excellent example of great municipal coverage. My sister lives in Lake Cuomo and Wall previously, that's why I'm familiar with it.

Hunterdon County Democrat - Finally, this will cease publication after many years due to this move. In the past, it was a great source of municipal journalism, but I admit that I have not checked it out in years. Either way, not a positive development in my opinion.

Seriously, do some research and independent thought.
Please Stop Season 9 GIF by One Chicago
research, that was shown in my post mentioning what trump was accused of and what happened
Looks like you willingly ignore that and want to believe the world is flat when it comes to Trump .
Tell me you researched what I posted and found those things never happened and Trump is the victim of malicious rumors about his behavior .
I say grab em by the facts, when discussing the issue on hand and don't let fiction rule your brain

Trump said he would build a wall and Mexico would pay for it… I could go on and on.

Both sides are guilty. People need to stop generalizing and labeling/classifying people as right or left. Enough us vs them. ITs sickening.

Anyone see Biden sucking a babies toes and biting their legs? #Pedo
Some might think that.
Some might believe this
>. A caption below an image of Biden biting one baby reads “Biden jokingly bites the leg of a baby dressed as a chicken.” Bates’s email highlighted the word “jokingly.”<

But it was a gaff or a bad act according to what you believe.
No matter what Biden has presidential immunity, so if you're upset:
Take it up with the Supreme Court 😁

Sad.
I've been buying the Ledger since the Sixties. Although for the last few years only the Sunday edition. The Bergen Record is gonna be a weak substitution.
It's not the Bergen Record when it's based in Woodland Park, Passaic County. 😁

Accused is not proven to have committed the act.
You could be more wrong about what I believe about Trump or anything else.
Unhinged lunatic prosecutor took a case that the feds would not touch and turned it into a charge that should not have been prosecuted. All the lib lemmings got on their hind legs and enjoyed their treat.

Looks like you are the one that believes what you want to believe. And that's OK, and I respect that, nor will I characterize you in a negative way.

Many have debated whether that case should've been brought (Elie Honig who's on CNN regularly as a legal analyst, being from the SDNY, is my neighbor and said it shouldn't have been brought). I get that. But you don't do inspire any "unbiased" confidence when you label the prosecutor an "unhinged lunatic" and refer to "lib lemmings." C'mon you're better than that. Also, what say you about the actual trial, where DJT was found guilty by a jury of his peers on every count. Do you have confidence in what that jury found?

C'mon already. Alvin Bragg and Leticia James are unhinged, TDS addled lunatics. A trial without a jury, with a known far-left leaning judge? Please. And yes, the lib lemmings lapped this up.
To the "jury of his peers," oh please. And keep in mind, the burden of proof in a civil trial is far from “beyond a reasonable doubt”, but instead by a “preponderance of the evidence”, i.e. 51% certainty.
And why were all of these cases brought so late in the election cycle? I call balls and strikes on both sides, and foul balls too. Yes, Trump brought scrutiny on himself and harmed his case for recorded remarks he made long before he decided to run for office. Anyways, have a nice day.

Rogan was a lib until the last few yesrs opened his eyes. He doesn't indentify as conservative and has little in common with establishment republicans

He is hit or miss on some things but its the open dialogue thats so informative and refreshing

A jury "of his peers" in that Manhattan Court with a jury pool that voted 9:1 against Trump lol. Trump is acquitted in Long Island's Suffolk County or Staten Island let alone hung juries in 100's of purplish districts around the country. And that's even with the highly partisan hand-picked Demo "judge" whose daughter earns millions as a Demo operative.

Rogan does get a little dopey at times, and he does indulge some wacky conspiracy theories. Maybe it's the weed. IDK. I still like him. But I do see @RUPete 's point. Rogan is not everyone's cup of tea. But I find his podcasts one of the better ones out there for free form discussion. There are others, but they are mostly geared towards science, health medicine, such as Huberman, Attia, Rhonda Patrick and several others.
