OT: Stop the Presses - Star-Ledger to stop printing

They were pretty good when they had anchors like Bernard Shaw.
"Showbiz Today" was pretty good.
Gradually the place morphed odd.

Business reporter Richard Quest was arrested in Central Park while nude and his Willy tied to his neck.
Jeff Toobin was caught fapping during a zoom meeting.
Chris Cuomo had his show producer caught having sex with 9 yr old.

Wrong people hired other wrong people until the place was a zoo.
Steve Jobs used to warn about corporations and companies going to seed over time.
JFK was warned about agencies and he and RFK had to go outside for walks to talk without being spied on.
Once weeds are in the garden it takes effort to weed them out.

Bernie Shaw reporting during the first Gulf War MADE CNN. It's been all downhill from there.

Obviously news in print form is becoming outdated due to the internet. But there is nothing good about losing those few remaining local news entities that are left. Almost every anti SL post in this thread originates from a POV that the poster doesn't agree with their messaging and/or can't handle that the SL dared to criticize Rutgers (mostly fairly IMO, given how we have had one of the most poorly run athletics department I can remember in medium term memory). So I dont like what they report seemingly equals glee in having those news sources go out of business. Short-sighted IMO. I personally dont feel like having to go seek out to numerous FB or twitter sources for my information. I dont see any real good in this and think the reaction in this thread is sad.

Isn’t it strange how “conspiracy theories” spewed by “tin foil hat wearers” come true more times than not? Stop with the bullying by dismissing people as tin foil hat wearers.
I have yet to see one political conspiracy "come true". There is a perfect track record of never having been one political conspiracy theory proven.

Agree. Along those lines, the loss of local municipal journalism is a big problem. No one is reporting on or watching the entities that spend our tax dollars, e.g. - county, municipal and board of education.

No self awareness from you

I bet you are as sharp as a tack
The as hominem attacks I was referring to were use of derogatory, juvenile nickname for people. Much like your hero does repeatedly.

Saying you debase yourself is the truth as I see it. Not a nickname, or other juvenile insult.

There is a BIG DIFFERENCE

It was just sun up. Heading to the beach later to enjoy a beautiful day. You should get your face out of RW Twitter (Pizzagate Jack, Insurrectionist Barbie, and some pimple faced 18 year old kid in Mom's basement) and enjoy life instead of attacking anyone or anything that doesn't adhere to your narrow views.

Garbage gonna garbage.

Okay so let me get this straight:

"Juvenile nicknames" for individuals = BAD
Calling half the nation "deplorable," "racists," "nazis" and/or "garbage = OKAY

Gotcha.

*** half the people campaigning for/with Trump have had "nicknames" and seem to have no issues with them

You were saying?

sadly, the fact you even need to mention that just goes to show how out of touch and ignorant they are. I mean you've got one cat stating PBS is unbiased hahahahaha. don't even waste your breath on them.
This is your signature! I guess you are not a right wing bigot!!! LOL!

Diversity has taken the new meaning of "not white".
Liberals are our generation's Nazi
There is no group in America more censoring, hateful, bigoted, and downright evil than the democrat party

Clearly, it is your ilk that a full of hate and bigotry!!!!!!!!!!!

One of their lefty clowns that buried the paper is Drew Sheneman. Guy cries more than any adult should. He was wrong about literally EVERYTHING covid. best part is they are too fukking dumb to understand why they are going under.

Nice attempt at spin but wrong.

And this is only the tip of the iceberg in terms the of his disparaging remarks.

He has no peer when it comes to this, so please save your faux outrage.
1) Not "outraged"

2) Not "spinning" - please find a me a video, with full context, in which Donald Trump labels half of THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA'S CITIZENS as "garbage." I'll be waiting.

3) does he put HER down, constantly? Yup. Does he put her/their inner circle down, all the time? Absolutely. Not denying any of that nor would I ever.

Thanks!

@BossNJ what's with your incessant "giggling? " Just respond. It's okay if you don't agree with me, all good, but enough with the 12-year old girl crap. Com'on.
You’re a funny guy gotta admit.

Take a look at other posts, that’s a common practice here when someone posts something that the person deemed was so utterly ridiculous. Don’t act like you haven’t seen it because it happens all the time. Your buddies do it, but I guess that’s ok.

Got it

Not necessarily referring to whom you responded, but some people are incapable of defending indefensible positions, which is why they deflect or "giggle" as you put it.
For me, I struggle with this as there are things that I agree with on both sides of the aisle, yet vehemently disagree with other things on both sides. Like many others, one is left to make a list of things that are most important and choose. Even then, the choice is not
completely satisfying.

Social media can be so frustrating. Nobody is going to convince anybody else on "the other side" that they are wrong.

Reminds me of the song Stuck in the Middle With You

Well I don't know why I came here tonight
I've got the feeling that something ain't right
I'm so scared in case I fall off my chair
And I'm wondering how I'll get down the stairs

Clowns to the left of me

Jokers to the right
Here I am stuck in the middle with you

I get that...BUT....at least follow it up with a response that disproves my comment, hence, legitimizing the "giggle," no?

One other thing. This is a football board. Let's talk about the stuff we as people can agree on. That this is the GREATEST football season we have seen in some time. Oh, wait a minute, that is out the window. This is the WORST collapse of a season that we have seen in some time?

You know what was great? The hike up to the Hollywood sign in LA. Politics did not come up at all. We all just enjoyed the day, talked about our Rutgers experiences, football, basketball, what life is like in our respective areas of the country, and our careers, etc. I actually had a nice discussion with a board member here that touched on politics, but we were really just figuring out why we can't get better candidates to run for President.

The giggle can be used (and often is) as a lazy response akin to a disapproval. Sometimes there’s just not enough time for a thoughtful response in every instance. And sometimes, as you stated, you’re not gonna get a defense of the giggle and a thoughtful rebuttal because there isn’t one.

I do like the song analogy btw

I hate these discussions on the Football board. They are pointless. Gaslighting, insults, fighting, stupid memes, etc. Nothing gets solved, feelings get hurt and time gets wasted. Unproductive negative energy.

How about this from Mrs. Robinson - Simon and Garfunkel about 55 years ago.

"Going to the candidate's debate
Laugh about it, shout about it
When you have to choose
Every way you look at it you lose"

From the liner notes of the Corrosion of Conformity 1991 album Blind. Not sure if arguing on social media is being part of the solution. Think it is part of the problem. There is an awesome song on the album called Vote With a Bullet, that is not meant to inspire violence, but to send a message.
"Politics is the control of wealth and power. You are being conditioned to condemn politics as petty and boring, thus granting all the more control to the powers that be. You are either a part of the solution or a part of the problem...."

Apologies, sometimes I get caught up.. I know it’s not healthy but..

Kinda like when you’re driving by a car wreck and you can’t stop looking.
