Rutgers met Manhattan at Ebbets Field on December 3, 1932. The WINS (1180 AM), Brooklyn announcer was New York Journal sports reporter Ford C. Frick. In 1934, Frick became president of the National League and served as Commissioner of Major League Baseball from 1951-65. The Baseball Hall of Fame bestows the Ford C. Frick Award to those honored for their career excellence in baseball broadcasting.
