Back and Forth game

Another Backup that Rutgers makes looks like a Heisman Candidate

Breath-taking TD pass called back on Holding Penalty

Wharton redeems himself with a great pass breakup to end the game, while we have 2 converted WR on the field playing defense

Three of the last 4 games have story book endings that you couldn't even make up

Bottom Line - Maryland currently has more talent at skill positions but we have better coaching and discipline. Also, their coach is constantly grinning while ours is scowling

Maryland killed themselves all day with penalties - Rutgers was clearly better in the trenches

Hats off to the O-line and to Gio!!!!!

Great win for our school. Had to beat those guys, especially at home.

Chris Ash’s message is clearly starting to click with our players. Better QB play/less vanilla
Play calls doesn’t hurt either ;)

Take notes recruits!!

One of the first needs for a rivalry is that nobody is all that sure who will win no matter what the respective records are. So far, both schools are making this a truism. Besides, every school needs a rival and with both teams entering the BIG together, it seems like a natural and being so close to each other.

Give it time, it's a natural. The two easternmost teams in the B1G, playing tough, close, and exciting games.

In some ways, this game was a program changer

Our first two wins were against an awful Illinois team and a Purdue team that probably had it's worst game of the year and we played not to lose

This game was played aggressive on both sides, was ENJOYABLE to watch, even from a Maryland fan base and both teams probably felt certain of victory at any given time

I have been and will be a fan of Gio going forward, so think of things this way.. We really don't lose much by way of seniors next year, especially when you look at what we have replacing them. IF, for some reason, Gio isn't starting at QB, that means either we got a great 5th year Senior or Lewis/Artur/Chatman were that good to give us hope into the future

The true freshmen class will certainly develop and I think with our momentum on the field and maybe now in recruiting, this class will be almost as good and as we showed today, they can be Coached Up

Our downside appears to be a near .500 team in the Big East, but if recruits like Friday are sincere that they lean towards Rutgers, as long as we show progress, than today was a game changer and anything going forward is just icing on the cake

Kudos to the coaches for putting out a well disciplined, mistake free team. Special mentions to Coach Ash for finding 5th year Seniors to plug holes (Special teams improvement has swing at least 2 wins in our favor versus last year) and to Burnham and Blazek, for really developing our players in the trenches. I feel like both sides of the line are clearly on par with .500 teams in the BIG which is something we weren't prepared for when we first transitioned from the Big East, but are clearly building towards. Just need to develop the talent we just recruited and thankfully redshirted and find/develop a few skill players, and keep our coaching consistent for another year, and things will fall into place

As another thread alluded to, we need to come up with a trophy for this game. It cements the fact that we Belong in the BIG and highlights the 2 schools in the true East

Like the idea of the Turnpike Trophy or the Turnpike Tussle, admittedly the latter sounding a bit gay (not that there's anything wrong with that)
