Why would his showing at the Elite 11 change anything? It was always understood that he shines camp/7on7 type of settings.
Yet it never occurred to you to Google his name and find out. That makes you lazy too.
Honestly, that is the stupidest thing I've read in quite awhile, I come to this message board to learn more about recruiting/discus our team. Perhaps I should splurge for premium bc posters like u Cali think u run this board and ur word is king, dude if u really have nothing better to do than to troll my posts have at it I suppose, but please don't act like by me asking who a recruit was that it makes me a bad fan, there's a 99% chance the recruit didn't read it and I was asking a legit question, I had never heard of the guy.
I swear some of u are absolutely misrable people to rip up a fellow fan, at Rutgers (even as just a student) they preach family on campus and for alumni, we all want our team to succeed, I just happen to not believe Kyle flood is the right guy to do it.
Even our own RutgerAl, the most extreme optimist, kool aid drinking fan (no disrespect) we have is suggesting Kyle flood attend a Tim Robbins seminar the learn how to close on recruits.
U guys can sweep recruiting under the rug all u want but the truth is, in the division we're playing in now, our recruiting isn't good enough. I truly believe that if we continue doing what we've been doing especially once the 2012 class is gone that we will be the equivalent of Purdue in the big ten west. I DONT WANT THAT! We need to make the transition now! I just don't understand any argument defending Kyle flood, what exactly has that guy shown to make anyone believe that he can lead us to a big ten championship?
It might have always been understood that way by you but not by everyone else. If that is the case then why should we be excited by ARs performance in the camp.
question for those out there who really follow the star rating systems. I know there are some big name schools that seem to get the benefit of the doubt, but if Russo proves to be the real deal -- do you think the ratings systems might begin giving Flood's picks a little bounce? Just curious if finding guys like Turay and Russo might lead to higher ratings for others down the line.
And if that happens, is it a good things for Rutgers? Could it lead to more higher profile kids being interested? Or is it better to have the guys be under the radar for us?

Here is the thing......you cannot expect RU to walk into the big ten and immediately recruit like Ohio state......it was never going to happen....what has to happen is that we have to recruit well enough to get better as Michigan state and Wisconsin did....getting big body linemen and solid three star players that fit our system
Then play well enough to stay in the games with the top teams
Then, with good coaching, we hope, we begin to draw the four star players, and yes, some of those NJ stars
But it never was going to happen over night...we have to grow the program
We haven't done that though! We lost by a combined 180-44 last year against the big 10 elite... That was with a better team last year. By bringing in a new coach he could add some excitement to the program, right now all Rutgers is is a safety school until a kid gets his mich, psu, Ohio state, etc offer. We aren't going to win this way, period! I don't expect us to recruit like Ohio state, but seriously in the big 10 not landing a single nj top 10 recruit in 3 years?! You've got to be kidding me!

We are bringing in some of the bigger bodies in the 2016 class, I was not referring to the previous class.....again, we were not going to compete well against the top big ten from day one of the big 10...
I am also a bit disappointed in not getting the top NJ players, but am extremely happy with almost all of our 2016 commits....most of them will help us in our bid to move up the ladder in the big 10
the difference between you and me is that I am willing to take a few lumps along the way, and to gradually get better....if you expected a class of 4 and 5 star recruits, you were expecting too much.
years ago a Michigan state team was no better than RU....we played them and beat them......now, with patience, they are a very good team......
for now we have to accept we can play with some big 10 teams and win, and not with others
it will take time.....I am probably way older than you, and I have less time to be patient....but I am....good things will happen.

Who is the new coaching candidate that are you referring to?
Where is the immediate money coming from to replace the current coaching staff and pay for a high profile new coach to "add some excitement" to the program (as you point out)?
How do you know if we are progressing in the Big 10 on the field if we have only played on season?
Not sure if you are truely an RU fan or if you are operating under multiple IDs on this board - however you definately seem to be the type that thinks progression should be instantaneous as if we were building a team on XBox or that problems are easy to solve with a wave of the wand or sprinkling of magic pixie dust.
Don't expect instant gratification when playing the top programs.
Take a look at how you play against comparable programs you face in your new conference.
Rutgers did far better than expected last year and did get blown out against the better programs.
Those who want to make Flood and Rutgers look inept point out the blowouts while
ignoring RU went bowling when many didn't think it would win more than four games.
Ignoring that fact, shows not wanting to fully admit Rutgers had a fairly good season last year and only want to point out the bad parts of it
I've seen posters claim to be concerned Rutgers fans while claiming all is not going well and make sure they put in positive remarks to claim that , while knocking everything they can about RU FB, its coaches and recruits.
It's the buts in their posts that show their negativity.
Rutgers recruiting is doing better "BUT" it's not doing good and I blame the coach.
Rutgers is getting talent "But" the HC is losing the better ones.

We are the only team in the conference to play all four of the elite teams last year, and we will be the only one this year as well. Sub out Nebraska and Wisconsin for any other west division teams and RU probably has one more win and is competitive in both games. You would then end up with a 9-4 season with only two blowout losses to two top 10 teams. I realize the schedule was setup that way to ensure that the B1G network was picked up and I'm not complaining, but we need to keep things in perspective.

I'm not RUsmrtrthna5thgrdr, I'm a premium account holder and have been for about 7 years. I've been only reading the boards and never really posted until recently because a) wtf do I know, I'm not "connected" with any staff, HS, recruits, etc. and b) my user name (which I can't figure out how to easily change) was my actual name. I decided recently that I don't care if anyone knows who I am, so here I am.
I just think it's ridiculous that you can read his comments and come to the conclusion that he's just trolling everyone. I honestly haven't looked at everything the guy has ever posted, but in this singular thread, what has he said that was worthy of being shredded? If you're going to say his question was dumb, people here ask dumb questions all the time. Where's your outrage about all the people asking why Russo hasn't gotten his bump in stars yet? This is a recruiting message board for fans of Rutgers. For some that means blindly showing support for everything that happens, for some that means having a frank conversation about our team. I read his comments as being a little more on the negative side, but isn't reality usually somewhere in between the good and the bad? I suppose I am lazy then, I did ask who he was on a message board on a post about him and I did not google him before I posted that. this isn't the premium board so we don't always here about every recruit RU is looking at and I hadn't seen any previous posts on here regarding the young man so I wanted to learn more. Like I said, I did not go to google, perhaps I thought that on a community message board someone could fill me in on who this kid was. Could I have phrased it better, admittedly yes.

If you guys haven't figured it out yet, recruiting can be a lot like the NFL Draft. There is a reason why everyone wanted him and don't think for a minute if Flood had to pick one and one only between Guarantano and Russo, he would be picking the JG guy. Just like Franklin, Meyer and Harbaugh all would.
ALL the QBs need to progress a lot more to make an impact at the college level. Just like they will have to when they make the next leap to the pro level. You get a chance to grab a kid with ridiculous athletic tools, you do it. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't.
If you never draft any of these guys, you always go for the guy with the solid production - you never win the Super Bowl. You have to know how to mix both. Recruiting is just like that.
Don't take this as a slap on Russo - who will end up as a 3 star as he should, I have posted this before. But just to clear the air let me be perfectly frank. I would like to be a part of this community, i do not understand why anybody would waste their time to be a 'troll' and set up a fake identity or anything like that. I graduated from RU in May 2015 with a degree in molecular biology (was really cool meeting the guy who I loved growing up, bill nye who actually took time to visit our lab) I start grad school at Pitt in the fall and by the time it's all said and done I'll be in debt to my eyeballs but hey, maybe I'll be published before I do what everyone does and become a high school teacher in my 40's after working in a lab for 10 years, haha.
I loooove football and I want more than anything for our team to succeed. I'm not talkin a class loaded with 4 and 5 stars but I see no reason why with the right coach (not talking high dollar but RU will need to pony up at least 2 mil per season) we can't land some elite talent. We need someone who can relate to these jersey kids and give them reason to stay home. It's unrealistic to think that we'll land all of jersey's beat, I agree but there's no reason why we shouldn't be landing at least 2-3 of the top 10 per year. I truly believe that Kyle flood has been riding the coattail of GS work (ei. Barry switzer 1995 cowboys) in assembling talent but I can't just sit back and think "oh it will all work out" when we are now in a MUCH tougher conference against some of the elite teams in the country. I don't want to be negative, I really don't but yes I do want our team to get better, everyone does, I'm not satisfied with 2006 being the one year everyone refers back to, I want us to compete year in and year out, I understand it will take time but I just don't see how we are moving forward with flood

They don't mean everything no but u can't deny the relation between high level recruiting and on the field success. Yes there are exceptions but it's proven that for the most part the better talent, the better team.

Who's been in the Big Ten for 3 years? You act like we were going to step up from the AAC into the Big Ten and own the place from the jump, or that recruiting was going to skyrocket at the flip of a switch before we even played a down in the new conference - and that since those two things didn't happen, we're obviously failing and need to hire some theoretical coach that doesn't exist to replace Flood.

Yes flood riding on GS' coattail, the majority of the players who have started for flood were signed by GS. I hope I'm wrong man, really do and yes I am a rare case here in the land of psu hate. I feel like the fat kid at recess who gets picked last haha I'm really not trying to be negative, I just want us to be back to top 25 so bad. We don't even need to win the big10 or anything like that for a while. I'm sorry but maybe after a while of seeing talent soooooo close to us and keep leaving it sucks!
