Technically, maybe Pikiell doesn’t have the inside scoop on Corey leaving or staying. In which case, we need to do the recruiting. Otherwise, what we pick up some random nobody? Recruit and then see where we are at. Maybe everyone stays.
if I was souf I'd do the honorable thing and "retire" and be a student assistant next year. I'm not kidding when I say this, I truly don't think he'd get a ton of run even at Kean or Montclair State.Listen these guys know they are out of their element but do they sit on the bench and capture a Rutgers degree or transfer down to a lesser God to sit on a lesser bench?
What would his incentive be to do that? He would have to pay his own wayif I was souf I'd do the honorable thing and "retire" and be a student assistant next year. I'm not kidding when I say this, I truly don't think he'd get a ton of run even at Kean or Montclair State.
If its a “Medical retirement” retirement im pretty sure you keep your ship. Ash processed a few kids via medical retirement alreadyWhat would his incentive be to do that? He would have to pay his own way
They're not booing. They're saying SOOOOUF.My favorite part of watching Souf play for this squad was just screaming SOOOUF. That's it. Clear the schollie. Lol
I don't understand why MB is at his current weight. That weight has to come off in order for him to have a spot on the team next year, IMO.
Pike biffed on Souf, big time. That's his fault.
If Sanders doesn't go, I think Pike has to figure out how to clear room for 1 more spot.
No I am not being politically correct. I am saying you do it the RIGHT way. If after all discussions are over and kid want to stay you don't push him out the door. You treat him as one of the players and coach him up to the best of the coaches ability and the best of the players[.Or you can stop being so sensitive and really the dude is not a D-1 player, obviously you cant pull souf's ship (Bullock maybe bc he hasnt gotten in shape in 2 years) and is there really a difference between saying "run him out of town" and "help him make the best decision for him" you are just saying it in a politically correct way

A lot of folks have stepped over the line .
It's one thing to speculate who is transferring and what pieces come in.
To Target a student and say he must go is not only in bad taste it is not in the spirit of our university's ethos.
It's one thing if he leaves whether on his own or by some other force - but remember Souf is a student firtf.
Bullock is a joke. Unless he has a medical issue he should be kicked off the team for being fat and out of shape. Two years in the program and his physical condition is an insult to the program.
How do you know? Have you played at this level to make a statement like that? You just sound so soft, like someone who's kid isn't going to be a star athlete. At this level of athletics things are way more cut throat, this isn't middle school rec league where everyone gets a fair shake.
There are posters here who claim to love Rutgers but spend most of their time knocking it at every chance. And you sound like a guy who doesn't know if there is air or feathers in the ball.
Here's a heads up------get the rep as a Program that runs guys off and a difficult sell to come to RU becomes that much more difficult.
Actually,
Lots of teams push kids out. Way it is at a lot of programs. D1 Sports are a big business. Unfortunately, Rutgers has run it's sports programs like a towns REC League playing daddy ball. Looks like we finally have the right AD and right basketball coach in place. Hopefully Pike can find good homes for these players and bring in some B1G talent with their schoolies.
This s not about my being soft or worrying about kids who may or may not make it in D! sports. It's about handling the kids in the right way which in turn means you are running your program the right way. My kid was cut from his HS baseball team and beaten out by someone who didn't have half the talent my kid had. I am not saying that as a pissed off father as 90% of the kids told the coach they thought my ikid should kid should have made the team. I sure as hell wouldn't want you coaching my kid with the attitude you have. Wonder how you would feel if it were your kid getting pushed out with no other recourse. Just don't agree with your philosophy7 on how to fix the roster. You just sound so soft, like someone who's kid isn't going to be a star athlete. This isn't high school. What does high school athletics and your son have to do with B1G basketball with millions of dollars on the line for programs? This is the highest level of D1 athletics with scholarships worth over $100k. College sports is big business. Shoot, travel sports is big business. My oldest plays a year up on one of the top travel baseball teams in the state. He knows if he doesn't produce, he doesn't play. And if he hypothetically didn't play, he'd be looking for another travel team. Two of my friends played in the Big East and Europe and now coach in the Big East at programs that are typically highly ranked. One even won the National Championship. This type of stuff happens at their programs and at tons of other programs. If Rutgers wants to win, they need to upgrade their talent. Finding homes at lower level programs for players who aren't cutting it is part of the process.

And sincerely, I'm sorry about your son being cut. That sucks, especially if he deserved the roster spot.
2 Simpsons references in one thread...good stuffI was saying SOOOOUFF
Agreed----if they want to leave.
If they don't the HC will have to view his mistakes until their eligibility expires.
The difference between your son's participation on a travel team and this situation is that these guys are on a full scholarship.
This is for both you and Crown6 I can't say this any clearer. I have NO PROBLEM WITH WEEDING KIDS OUT my problem is both of you seem to be saying just take their schollie a and tell them services no longer needed. This isn't high school. If there was a nice way of saying it, it would be said that way. As a hard core fan, I appreciate the kids who come to Rutgers but it’s time to round out this roster with guys who can help get us to a winning season and post season. Two mistakes were made and hopefully they work out on their own.honestly, if I'm being blunt, I hope they realize they're not cut out for big ten ball. I'm just typing what everyone is thinkingReally - are you personally trying to run these guys out of town?
This decision is a personal decision.
Here's my question to the complainers: Were you good enough to be in the same position as Souf or Bullock?
