2025 Rutgers Football OL commit Joshua Blackston is headed to the Under Armour All-American game.

#50 OL Blackston from Maryland looked real good in the HS All Star game today. He and Matthews might see playing time this Fall on the OL.
Also #9 WR Carter ( 2026 Recruit) led his team with 4 receptions . Looks great . Hope we keep him.

Blackstone is listed at 275. A year to add some bulk wouldn't hurt

I think there's a better chance of a 90 degree day tomorrow than either of those two seeing any meaningful snaps.

Matthews ? More like a 40 degree day with his chances of playing.

The extra healthy weight would help him competitively for sure. But perhaps more importantly, the extra year (or two) of S&C training will greatly increase his odds of avoiding season or career-ending injuries.

GS once said, during his first stint here, something along the lines of how the program will be on-track when we can always redshirt all the incoming big guys (the linemen) to give them an extra year of development. Made a lot of sense.

NIL and the transfer portal have shifted things a bit, but I would think the principle still applies.
