Anyone dealing with depression symptoms today?

No; but I’m dealing with some “mouthy” alums of other BIG teams throughout my company this morning as I round out the work week! Thanks RU - great way to put an exclamation point on things heading into crunch time.

Just lean in on it and take the air out of the balloon. I got a bunch of texts last year ripping us and I wrote back to each of them “say whatever you want we deserve it.” Oddly, it doesn’t leave the others anywhere to go.

Hello Darkness my old friend. I’ve come to talk with you again.

These type of losses stay with me for awhile. Sometimes I’d prefer not to be so emotionally vested. It’s a sickening feeling in my gut area.

The last two basketball seasons have been particularly hard on me. Deep down inside I've actually kind of started to dread gamedays. Honestly never felt this way about a sports team before.
Not even Yankees or R Football. When the Yankees lost that crushing playoff game to Cleveland last year I was over in about 30 minutes. When football blew it against Nebraska maybe 5 minutes. Not sure why exactly mbb kills me so much. I care about this team too damn much.

I’ve had season tix since 1995 and have been too emotionally vested since 1995. Ive yearned for teams / chances like this forever and let me tell ya - it’s a journey with ups and downs - and this one hurts really bad.

Hopefully this feeling of despair corrects itself on Sunday night.

That’s the problem - fans get crazy after a win ( like RAC going nuts) and so depressed after a loss. Need more even keel.
I think part of it is we have seen this team so close to breaking out numerous times.

We have never seen them make a deep run in a full generation. Rooting for the Pirates/Lions type teams has a similar feel. You want it more when you have the opportunity because you may have never seen it and it truly means more.

My first game with my dad was WVU 1983. After that season our NCAA record has been 1-4. That’s just about two generations. Very deflating.

We just came back from 19 in 2nd half . Iowa had a Miracle vs MSU. And now Minnesota went nuts from 3 in final minute to beat us. Its sports....If we are an NCAA tourney team go beat Northwestern....If we cant beat them at home in a must win scenario then we weren't going anywhere anyway....Just win baby..

How long have you been a rutgers fan? Must be a newbie around here. Best thing about rutgers sports is its helped me deal with getting kicked in the nuts. Cant control it so move on.

My first RU basketball game was RU vs. Shu at Brendan Byrne when Hodgson kicked the ball out of bounds.

I feel exactly the same way. Sick feeling deep inside will take all day to shake off. I care deeply about RU football, Giants, Yankees, even Knicks. But honestly nothing makes me feel like this after a loss. Except RU basketball. I can't explain it. Been following since 1968. But I was born in the Bronx! What is it about this team???

I’ve learned to look at these moments from the point of view of the opponent. Minnesota had nothing to cheer about all year, and now their players and fans had a moment of elation that frankly they earned last night. Tip your cap and let’s beat NW.

I completely forgot they had a game last night so I'm pretty fortunate to have not watched the collapse.

But it's still depressing knowing if they had held on they'd probably be sitting pretty with the NCAAs.

LMAO - exactly. I'm relatively new to Rutgers but I grew up a Red Sox fan, so pre-2004, I"m familiar with that feeling.

In 2017 when we were still pretty stinky we beat Illinois the last game of the season to knock them off the bubble. I think it was just our 3rd conference win. That was a good feeling.

Damn. I envy you guys!
Happiness can be elusive. For some people it is easier to find happiness than for others. For me, I do not look for happiness in or from people, events and things that are out of my control.

While I am happy when a Rutgers team does well, I move on quite quickly on gamea like last night. Turned off the TV, logged off and forgot about it. That works for me, but obviously others react differently.

If you aren't sick over that loss then you can't be that happy when they win. You don't care much either way. You can't have euphoric feelings if they win if it doesn't kill you when they lose. The feelings are inversely proportional.

This exactly. I bleed scarlet but having watched RU sports for 4 decades, I completely expect to have these games/days after. I know there are teams in all sports that have a high level of consistency and, although I see no reason why it cant be us, I know it wont be.

The best thing about rooting for an inconsistent team is that it works both ways. Unexpected wins as well as nights like last night. I had a conversation with my neighbor (slight RU fan) yesterday afternoon where I said the chances of us beating Minny and losing against NW and some Iowa type team in the BIG were about the same as us losing to Minny and blowing out NW and some Iowa type team. I still think this is possible.

I'm going to get really drunk tonight #coping

I was so looking forward to not worrying about needing to win Sunday to get in and watching the rest of the big ten games this weekend and root for anything that would help us get that double bye going into the northwestern game. And now I have zero interest in watching any college basketball this weekend until Sunday night

Getting blown out by Michigan in 1976 in the Final Four was worse for me.
Also, the football loss to Cincinnati after the big Louisville win in 2006.
