Anyone else questioning the whole CFB thing today?

I have to say I've been doing a lot of introspection today. Why do I care so much about some teenager just because they wear an R? Why do I follow high school football just to keep on top of Rivals stars and ratings? This used to be an enjoyable diversion, but when did I start knowing more about Bergen Catholic and Paramus Catholic than half the NFL?

I love Rutgers, but right now I'm more excited to see the Honors College than HPSS.

I'll probably feel differently in week but this garbage today, seeing Rutgers dragged through the mud on twitter, has really soured me. I was looking forward to the Michigan and Minnesota games tonight, but instead I think I'll watch the Yankees to take my mind off college football.

Crap no Yankees tonight! Oh well, Narcos it is.

Yup, I've lost pretty much all my excitement for this season and have no interest in watching any of the games tonight. I'm just sick of the whole charade.

Here's a tip: Get off social media. It's not healthy. This board and a few others is a far as I go. Twitter, IG, FB ect, will take years off of your life. If I wanted 100,000,000,000 people's opinions on the world I would have asked.

I agree, but what does that have to do with this thread?

Nope. Such is life, if I was to get despondent every time something bad happens I may as well never get out of bed. Like I've said many times I never get excited or down about recruits. I don't follow recruiting at all really. I have no idea who any of these guys are if they walked right in front of me.

I'm in shock about this stuff but I'm not going to let it kill my enjoyment of it and my fun. RU football and college football is my recreation from real day to day problems I face and this doesn't change any of that for me. They may have screwed up their own lives but they're not going to screw up mine.

No. I LOVE cfb and RU. That does not mean I think those involved should be handled differently because they play ball? No, they should be held to a higher standard.
I am greatly disappointed. With 100 players that are from all sorts of upbringing, some will make poor choices. "He who walks with the wise grows wiser, but a companion of fools eventually suffers harm.". The guys hanging out with the wrong crowd eventually suffer consequences.
I don't think Flood should lose his job based on this. I believe Flood probably tried to give the kids the best chances possible to succeed in life, not just for his coaching record. I believe flood is a good guy was hoping his coaching would catch up to his character. Maybe I'm wrong about his character, but I'm supporting him and the remaining guys.

No it's college everyone screws up. Rutgers just seems to excel at it. However, my outlook for the season has been dampened. I don't believe we're going to be very good, but I do love Rutgers Football. There's always going to be a few bad apples in the bunch. In the end it's just college football.

It can still be done right. Recruit character and talent. Ballers and thugs need not apply.

Screwing up in college is more like getting bad grades because you drank too much not armed robbery. You simply can't have kids like that on your team.

Just completely ruined the season. 10 players suspended for at least 1/2 of the first game. WOW.
We are going to get destroyed again. Another season of watching wide open pass plays. Our offense has better just go balls out to score.

All this while UNC getting opening night feature with the shills from ESPN offering their accolades without word 1 of their transgressions.

I am so blessed in my life that God gave me Rutgers to balance it out.

If you had said "I love Rutgers Football" you would have made a friend in me. If that was the true intent then I will be your friend .:sunglasses:

Thanks for the laugh my wife got a kick out of this too

What I keep trying to fathom is how these kids, not just at RU, who have been given such a great opportunity to become something think so little of it.
I certainly did some pretty stupid things during my college days, but this is like gang activity.
I think that the chances of these guys actually coming anywhere near what could have been is pretty slight right now.

Not me...still looking forward to rooting for the 90% of the high character student athletes that represent RU. I'm not convinced college football has much to do with the low character kids committing crimes- pretty sure they'd be involved in criminal activity without it.
