Are we ranked in the next AP poll?

Absolutely should be. We're top 4 in the best or second best conference. Idiotic if we're not.

USC beat LSU on a neutral court a month ago...not that the voters are paying attention.

The big ten media will vote us in now. Also any local guys should be bumping us higher which gives more votes.

Who has votes in our area?

Yes we shall be ranked and will remain so the rest of the season... Barring a rash of injuries or team flu.

The guys play so hard and are very deserving of recognition.

15. Michigan State - Safe (1-0 this week)
16. Wichita State - Out (0-2 this week)
17. Maryland - Drop (1-1 this week but loss was close at Wisconsin)
18. Seton Hall - Safe (2-0)
19. Michigan - Drop, possibly out (0-1, lost at Iowa)
20. Colorado - Out (blown out at Arizona)
21. Ohio State - Out (lost big to Penn State)

22. Memphis - Safe (2-0)
23. Texas Tech - Safe
24. Illinois - Safe
25. Creighton - Out (lost to Georgetown)

So definitely four spots, maybe 5.

Ahead of us in RV to move in:

Iowa - Yes
Stanford - No (thanks USC!)
Arkansas - No (1-1)
Indiana - No (lost to us)
Virginia - No (1-1)
Penn State - No (1-1)
LSU - Probably (2-0)
Arizona - Probably (2-0)
Wisconsin - No (1-1)
Liberty - No (2-0 but B10 wins > ASun wins)
Northern Iowa - No (Same as Liberty but MVC)
Purdue - No (0-1)
Washington - No (1-1)
Duquesne - No (2-0 but same as Liberty)

Iowa, LSU, Arizona, and Rutgers should move in.

To be clear this is following logic. My gut says enough voters aren't paying attention and don't rank us.

Who has votes in our area?

The guy who put us #22 last week is in Alabama. The guy who put us #23 last week is in South Carolina. And national writer Seth Davis had us #25.

Jerry will rank us this week. Hopefully the rest of the Big Ten writers do too. Dick Vitale has a vote too, need some home cooking from him.

Depends if the teams from 21-30 lost this week or not. It's definitely possible we don't get ranked.

Doesn't really matter to me. My eye is on the tourney prize. Rankings are cool, but I want to see wins.
With all due respect:

We are top 25 in ~ every computer ranking at this point. I can't imagine we get left out this week.

I care ONLY because that “last ranked in 1979” stat sucks.
Fun Fact: 1979 was the year after we beat Larry Bird and Indiana State at the RAC in the quarter finals of the NIT. I was in the student section that night. James Bailey won it with a last minute baseline jumper. That was the last loss Indiana State had until they lost to Magic Johnson's Michigan State team in the NCAA final in '79. We were a good team during that time (my RU college years). Glad to see us back where we should have been all along.

5-2 in the B1G. I think we leapfrog a number of schools. Top 25 is locked in this week. We are the Baby Yoda of MBB.

Seth Davis has us 23rd (Penn State at 21 which is ridiculous).

Rob Dauster did not rank us.

It's a coin toss at this point if we crack the poll. If we do get in it's at 24 or 25. Iowa needs to be in before us and we'll need to beat them this week to prove otherwise.

Which loss is holding us out of the top 25? I don’t get how these rankings work. Teams we’ve beat are ahead of us. Teams with a whole bunch of losses are ahead of us. We win convincingly in many cases. So is this just bias? Seems unscientific like judging Olympic figure skating.

I would be careful saying Wichita State is out even with the 2 losses sometimes voters are not paying attention...they still are 15-3.. The could hang in at 24 or 25

Michigan has that name recognition. People think they are better than they are. They have done very little in Big 10 play but everyone knows who they are in and they were ranked high at one time. 6 losses is way too many

Colorado is out and so is Ohio State and Creighton

I see 3 spots open and then one that could be open

USC
Iowa
LSU

so then it comes down to whether RU can squeeze out Wichita State or Michigan....by any sanity, RU deserves to get in over Michigan but not so sure. RU had more votes in the coaches poll and I think that is the poll where I think RU has the best shot at leaping in. Going to the need the Big 10 beat writers to support us. Jerry Carino trying to be fair and putting us 24 isnt how the game is played.

record wise with the exception of Michigan and soon to be out OSU the records are all similar. Iowa was gettng more votes, they are in the coaches poll, they will get in, Illinois beat us they deserve that ranking. LSU and USC now lead their conference so its tougher to argue 14-4 schools shouldnt get in. Its a competitive grouping of schools.

There is absolutely no question that we deserve to be ranked at this point. If those ***** don't rank us, then **** them.

It looked a little silly when they flashed the big 10 standings on the screen In the second half of the Minnesota game and the back half of the big were all ranked and overall those teams had a whole bunch of losses. They were brand names schools but come on.

also is seton hall that good. I feel like we killed them.

There are about 15 teams ahead of us in the AP rankings who lost or just had minor wins. That's counting up to #16 Wichita State which lost twice and, as noted above, should drop out.

So we would have to leap frog ALL of them to reach the Top 25. It's possible, yes, but more realistically, I would thing we'll be in the 26-28 range this week. Then depending upon whether or not we keep it going at Iowa on Wednesday, we could possibly crack the polls the following week.

I haven't checked the situation with the coaches poll but we were 34th in that one, so fewer teams to jump.

I would take our position of "36th" or whatever with a grain of salt. You have no idea how many voters had us 27th or whatever last week.
