Ash doesn't look like the answer

I firmly believe that in year 4 we will have a much better competitive team and at a minimum we will be 6 - 6 or better. Why do I think this?

Recruiting for one, if we keep having the recruiting classes and keep the commits for this years class, we will have depth and quality athletes in the program. See Micah, Melton, Lewis, Mitchell, Fogg, Tverdov,.... Consistent influx of similar talent needs to occur consistently and I think we will get higher rated classes as the coaches start building better relationships.

Player Development - Having players in the S&C program for 3-4 years, you will see better conditioned, stronger, faster athletes

Better Offensive Production - Having a much more experienced QB ( Lewis, Oden,...) that was built to run the spread and not trying to put a square peg in a round role, having speed and better playmakers ( Mitchell, Melton, Wormley,... )

Better Defensive Production - Our DB's and LB's are young and gained valuable experience and couple of more years in the S&C program we will see much better play from those units. Also, love the LB in this class, Fogg, Fatukasi, Onyechi

Much more Experienced Coaching Staff
- The staff will be much more experienced and Ash will make the necessary changes as needed, I don't expect the staff to stay the same in year 3 or year 4

Yea, it looks bleak but Ash knows what he is doing. He has a plan where he has learned from the best in the business. Give him time, if you don't see the improvement in year 3 or year 4 than it's time to cut bait but until than you have to let the process play out and go thru the growing pains.

I didn't read all of the comments but, Ummmmmmmmmmmm didn't PJ Fleck go 1-11 at Western Michigan in 2103 and aren't they undefeated as of now. Didn't it take a few years to get his guys in the to run his system. Give the guy a break. RU lost some decent OL players and filled in with youth that was left in the cupboard.

Next year the OT's should be much better with experience and who know if one of the Freshman OL's can step up. We know it takes a few years for them to be game ready, but let's hope that Clark is the real deal, not AD real deal but damn close. After all isn't he coming in early, which will help out tremendously. Our corners played darn good for sophomores. They should be much better along with Maddox-Williams with a year in the system and more weight on.

If we can get a transfer or JUCO QB and let Lewis and Odin learn and get better we should get a few more wins under our belt. We can't expect the defense to last a whole game with all of the offenses 3 and outs......

how can you say that after watching this team look so unprepared against foes he's been coaching against for how long? c'mon

Why, because a competent offense beats Iowa, Indiana, and Illinois, keeps last week close and has our fans talking Maryland tix to see if we make a bowl game. Let's see. Not even TX or ND tosses a coach after a year.

I don't know whether Ash will be good, great or terrible by the time he's done here, but I think it's useless to declare "terrible" at this stage. Let him recruit, get his guys in here and coach his system. Why? Because we don't have a choice anyway. He's not going anywhere for another 2 years, at least, and it wouldn't help the program in the least if they decided to do an emergency firing. So might as well root for the best.

This. Now back to the craft beer thread.

I agree with this in sentiment but at the end of the day, alot of yards was put up by those teams (not PSU) in the early part of the game which is equally as telling.
