AthlonSports.com article: 5 possible landing spots for Greg Schiano

If you look at who also is in the division, you can be a good team and still have a hard time matching up with OSU, MSU ...

That's why you pencil in two/three losses. For your best years you shouldn't be penciling in 4 losses. 7-8 could be a possibility, but it shouldn't be the expectation. Of course a lot depends on how it plays out, if you get blasted by the good teams and get to 7 wins it's different than losing a lot of heart-breakers and getting to 7. That happens. Plus, you never know maybe everyone is great, but i want our up years to feel like we're expecting something special could happen, even if it doesn't materialize. I hate feeling like, if everything goes right, we might get to respectable.

Say you pencil in 3, OSU, MSU & UM, you still have to play PSU, MD, Washington, Iowa and Minnesota. Going 3-2 would not be a bad result.

That's the thing, it is a bad result, unless you're saying all 5 are top 25 type teams next year. I want a program, that when it is looking at the 'up' years 3-2 vs 5 teams not likely to be in the top 25 (and 2 of them likely to be pretty freaking awful) 3-2 is a bad result, or at least disappointing.

Here is my biggest concerns with next year and why I may temper my expectations. I still don't know what we may be dealing with at our most important position and I think we may have serious depth issues at LB...if Laviano makes me more comfortable with him or they make a change to Rettig and he sets the world on fire- then a 8-9 win regular season is very attainable. I just see it as more positives then negatives next year.

I'll give you a prediction that should/could make you feel a little better:
Deonte Roberts will be one of our best players. That of course doesn't answer depth concerns, but with him, and tj Taylor back from injury, along with a developing isaiah johnson - we should be fine at lb.

The most likely spot where GS may land is USF. Greg would not have to move his family and he loves living in the Tampa area according to people I know that are close to him. He would also recruit well in the State of Florida as well as in the Northeast. The only drawback is they are not a P5 school.
But $2 mill a year for 5 years could change his mind re P5.

Willie Taggart's record is very much like Terry Shea's at RU. God, USF even lost to Maryland earlier this year. USF cannot afford to be second class to UCF for much longer. GS will not go to UCF where George O will be the AD even when he retires as AD/HC.
Problem was he is severely damaged in Tampa. They had billboards demanding that he be fired. He was cancerous in many peoples' minds.A very nice PR piece, but the longer he is out,the less likely to land something decent.Getting his feet wet as D coordinator is probably the way to go.

I just wanted to say that RU2055 has basically gotten everything right re: Flood, told us exactly how Flood was going to destroy the program and that is how it went down. Do you have any lottery numbers so we can get GS back...
