A good reason why short passes are better than long passes:
"Apodaca threw a crucial fourth-quarter interception, throwing for Matt Quarells but hitting NMSU linebacker Terrill Hanks on a third-and-5 play from the Lobos 30.
Apodaca said he believed the throw would have been a completion had he put it where it needed to be, but acknowledged the smarter move would have been a swing pass to running back Teriyon Gipson out of the backfield.
“We had Gip wide open on the swing,” Davie said. “(The Aggies) didn’t cover the swing. That’s the thing that’s going to break your heart when you see the tape.” "

Cox (MLB) who is also out for the game has probably been their best defensive player the past 2 years plus. Led the team in tackles by more than 25 each year. Had 11 TFL's and 5 sacks last year alone. Boatright may or may not have been a starter at CB.
